The Perfect Sentence
Who is like You, O Lord, among the gods? Who is like You, glorious in holiness, fearful in praises, doing wonders? —Exodus 15:11

As a young girl writing in my diary, my secret ambition was to compose the perfect sentence. I wondered what it would look and sound like. Perhaps it would include a strong verb and colorful adjectives.

My pursuit of the perfect sentence will never be satisfied, but I have found a statement of perfection in Exodus 3:14. When the Lord God called Moses from the burning bush, He told him that he had been chosen to bring His people out of bondage in Egypt (v.10). Moses, who was anxious about this responsibility, wondered what to say if the Israelites doubted him and asked who he was representing.

The Lord replied, “I AM WHO I AM” (v.14). By using His unique name, He offered Moses a glimpse of the nature of His eternal existence in one sentence. You might say it’s a statement of perfection!

Bible commentator G. Bush writes this about God’s description of Himself: “He, in distinction from all others, is the one only true God, the God who really is . . . . The eternal, self-existent, and immutable Being; the only being who can say that He always will be what He always has been.”

God says, “I AM WHO I AM.” He and His name are perfect. In reverence we are to bow before Him.

For Further Study
At the name of Jesus, every knee will one day bow.

Looking for perfection? Look to Jesus.

I understand the mixed emotions about the deer. I have one son who hunts and kills deer (oh, my) and my other son doesn’t like it. He had apple trees in his yard and took a picture of a deer eating an apple from the tree. He was inside his garage when he captured the picture. It was so beautiful....if I can find it, I will post it.

Don’t get me wrong....both sons are loved the same. And hunting is not a bad thing. I just don’t care for it...LOL~

Love the picture, Meg. What a beautiful couple they are! His speech in Midland was absolutely wonderful. I was very sad yesterday. Freezing, but I finally had to go somewhere. Went to Lowe’s, CVS, and stopped by the grocery store to get a couple of things. Just got stir crazy, I suppose and was being drowned by the Media.

;o)....Thanks for the holidays!

You did exactly what I would have done ‘yesterday’. The bright spot for me yesterday was finally watching President Bush and First Lady Laura arrive in Midland. Loved his relaxed mood and the happy vibes he was giving. God Bless them always.

I sorta feel lost today; don’t know what to do.

Amy...this was the perfect description of how I felt yesterday. Lost! Must begin to do as Julie Andrew's sang in " Sound of Music"...think about my favorite things.... let's see...for starters...Bald Eagles!

Happy Wednesday, WayzataJOHNN.

Thank you for bringing breakfast yesterday. I wasn’t in the mood to cook.

I turned the TV on this morning .... guess what! Everything I was able to avoid yesterday is been shown again!

I miss President Bush!

Good morning, Amy - hope that everyone is feeling better today than yesterday.

Very strange the way the animated rose looks on the thread (thought it was just in My Comments, because that doesn't always preview correctly, but it's the same on the thread). I know that your text is exactly the way we set it up, for the rose to open below the poem credit, and that's the way it still is when I view the source code and open it in my browser. :(

The name of the author of the poem is Nicholas Gordon, and I hate it's covered up by the animated rose.

The most common and simple Haiku is simply:
Line one 5 syllables
Line two is 7 syllables
Line three is back to 5 syllables

Like this:

Sails reaching for wind
filling the sky with canvas
flying on water

I know I read something about line 1 and line 3 saying similar things....thats not a good explanation from me but do you know what I’m trying to say? Or do I have that wrong? Looks like I’ll have to pull up that site I used to study...LOL! (Maybe I was thinking of the 5 syllables on line 1 and 5 syllables on line 3 that you just explained.)
