On The Wing
Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows. —Matthew 10:31

In his book On the Wing, Alan Tennant chronicles his efforts to track the migration of the peregrine falcon. Valued for their beauty, swiftness, and power, these amazing birds of prey were favorite hunting companions of emperors and nobility. Sadly, the wide use of the pesticide DDT in the 1950s interfered with their reproductive cycle and placed them on the endangered species list.

Interested in the recovery of this species, Tennant attached transmitters to a select number of falcons to track their migration patterns. But when he and his pilot flew their Cessna behind the birds, they repeatedly lost signal from the transmitters. Despite their advanced technology, they were not always able to track the birds they wanted to help.

It’s good to know that the God who cares for us never loses track of us. In fact, Jesus said that not even one sparrow “falls to the ground apart from [God’s] will. . . . Do not fear therefore; you are of more value than many sparrows” (Matt. 10:29-31).

When we face difficult circumstances, fear may cause us to wonder if God is aware of our situation. Jesus’ teaching assures us that God cares deeply and is in control. His tracking of our lives will never fail.

I would tell the Lord my longings,
Roll on Him my every care;
Cast upon Him all my burdens,
Burdens that I cannot bear. —Weigle

If God cares for birds, will He not care for His children?

East Tennessee is an hour earlier than West Tennessee. Which time zone are you in?

Air Freshener

Brown bubbles skate across
the smooth, scalding surface,
and cluster at the lip
of the hot mug of dark brew.
They jostle each other,
and murmur steamy coffee stories.
Each anxious
to be the first to burst,
and flick her rich, pungent scent
into the crisp, clean air
of early morning.

are you in West Tennessee?

Huntsville, Alabama. Same time zone as West Tennessee.

I just found something out that I didn't know. Earl Grey tea will gag a maggot but Lady Grey is not bad. Don't know if you drink tea. Just made a cup LG (first time) and it's tolerable. No where near as good as Irish Breakfast tea but tolerable.

Love the Good Morning! Description of coffee is right on, isn’t it? I set my coffee pot to start before I come downstairs and when I smell that coffee upstairs in the morning, I gotta get downstairs fast.

Very cold here this morning and I have had a hard time warming up. I cut the thermostat up for a while. Didn’t make it to the grocery store yesterday but definitely have to go today after I get the downstairs straightened up and get Jaycee straightened up....LOL~

I was just guessing that you might live in West Tennessee. My brother lives in Columbus GA close to the the Alabama line. He roots for his teams in GA and he roots for some in Alabama too.

About tea, I would love to find one that I like. I’ve tried hot tea many times and never acquired a taste for it. In the afternoon, I think a cup of tea would be nice! Maybe I should try the Lady Grey that you suggested. I may have to try Irish Breakfast tea also. Do you add anything to your hot tea?

Morning, yorkie. Thanks for the coffee. I am having mine with Peppermint Mocha creamer. They had a huge sale on this stuff after Christmas, but I figure peppermint and mocha is good any time of year! YUM.

Have you ever tried Constant Comment? I am not a big hot tea drinker, but I do like Constant Comment. Just smelling that delicious orange fragrance while it is brewing is a treat.

I drink my tea and my coffee just like it comes from the pot. The Lady Grey has lemon or lime, not sure which, added. I guess it must be citrus peel of some kind added to the tea which I believe is Assam tea like the Irish Breakfast tea. Assam is a black tea. I really like Harney and Son’s Irish Breakfast tea but I’m out of it and need to order some so I’m just drinking Twinings right now. The store was out of Twinings I.B.tea so I got a sample box that had I.B.tea, English Breakfast tea, Earl Grey & Lady Grey.

There is a chance I might like that one. I love the smell of oranges and I love oranges. Fewz offered some suggestions, too, a few posts back. Have you tried any of those? I will look for some today at the grocery store? They have a lot of choices but may not have that one....I will check! Thanks!!!

I'm not really a tea connoisseur. After I found Constant Comment I haven't bothered to even try any others.

Any store that carries Bigelow tea, should have Constant Comment. Bigelow is everywhere, I think. Since you like oranges, you should really like this tea. The orange flavor/fragrance is not subtle and that is what I like about it.

When the cost of Coffee-Mate went to $4 a bottle, I figured I would have to go through withdrawl and just quit buying it.

Then, I found Coffee-Mate Concentrated Creamer at Sam's Club. It does not need refrigeration, and is (IMHO) even better than what you get in the grocery refrigerated section. One pump = one tub of creamer - so it lasts for a long time - and is only $10 a bottle.

I am hooked on the Hazlenut flavor!

Yes, the Hazelnut is my favorite too! I will have to look for the concentrated creamer too.
