I am into sports games, I hear NBA 2k9 is pretty awesome as well as Madden 09. What do you think of Call Of Duty: World At War? Little Big Planet looks interesting, my cousin has the game and loves it, but I have never seen it. I also love Sonic, I saw online that Sonic Unleashed game but read mixed reviews. So in Animal Crossing, do you have to be online with other people to share the creations or can I build the town without being online?

Civilization IV is my current game. I’ve owned all four versions and it is probably the best. I didn’t care for Civ3 much. Duke Nukem is probably my all time favorite. The last version of Castle Wolfenstein was pretty good.

Online is not required to enjoy Animal Crossing.

CoD:WoW isn’t groundbreaking in any sense, but it provides some good fun if you’re tired of CoD4.

I enjoyed Sonic Unleashed (played both the Wii and PS3 versions). I think the reviews were pretty harsh. The werehog levels are a downer and there are some minor control issues, but the game is still fun overall.

To: NinoFan; All

Don’t play a lot of games (though my wife and I have now decided we want a Wii.....loved playing her brother’s the other day).

But, my limited games are PC in nature.

I love Grand Theft Auto, not for the violence, but for the free nature of it. While there are missions, I enjoy the game just for the experience of driving different vehicles all over the map. It is just so freeing and fun.

Much better than a scripted game where you have to follow the levels. I hate those since you are stuck at the level until you can move on, so constricting.

Not with GTA. You go and do as you please if you decide to not go through all their setup stuff.

I haven’t got the new one since I am not sure if my computer will play it, but I loved San Andreas.

Anybody else try GTA 4?

Also, I do enjoy Age of Empires.

How about some old(er) school PC games? Baldur's Gate II and Medieval Total War.

And a real old school PC game: Star Control II, which is open source now, so no purchase necessary ;)

Sonic Unleashed, is it better for the PS3, XBOX 360, or Wii, since they are for all three versions. I love Sonic so I know the game will be good, I guess it all depends on the people reviewing it. I know that in March a new Sonic game is coming out for the Wii that looks amazing

I have to admit to shooting in GTA even though the main reason I enjoy it is for the freedom, the fact that the game is just so stinking big and combines so many genres.

Well, I enjoyed the gameplay of Sonic Unleashed Wii the most, but just by a hair. The PS3 version has significantly better graphics, but there are some framerate issues. Since the 360 and PS3 versions are almost identical, I couldn’t justify buying all three, but I’ve heard that the 360 has less slowdown, so that’s probably the one I’d get.

Yes, yes, yes!! Sonic and the Black Knight for Wii looks like it’ll be great. It’s getting some ridiculous hate due its non-traditional elements, but everything I’ve seen makes it seem like it’ll be a must-buy for Sonic fans.

You basically just live your own tax free life: doing odd jobs, shopping, fishing, etc. I especially enjoy the real-time, holidays, and shopping. As a middle-aged mom, I thought it was fun to design my own clothes and decorate my house. My 15-year-old son made his character wear a camouflage military shirt and a gas mask. My 20-year-old’s is wearing a Star Trek shirt. And my hubby’s guy is wearing a Chargers shirt.

Chrono Trigger DS...re-release of a classic RPG that really does it justice. Retranslated, a few DS only goodies added, but overall it’s just as much of a wonder now as when it was released for the SNES.

The soundtrack is one of the most memorable, the characters are likeable, and this isn’t something you’d need to keep a child from watching over your shoulder.

Final Fantasy 4 DS is also a nice re-release of a classic, if changed a bit more from the original masterpiece.

Super Smash Brothers Brawl, for the Wii. Cartoon type fighting game, no gore, TONS of fun. Classic video game chars going waaaay back duke it out, everyone from Mario and Donkey Kong to Marth and Ike from Fire Emblem, Solid Snake from Metal Gear, and Lucas from Mother 3. The game is a museum to gaming history as well as a solid if unorthodox fighter. There are even nods to Japanese-only games in the soundtrack.

Portal...total mind@#$%. Really makes you think about the puzzles, but more of a game for teens or older.

Now for the bargain bin...where I spent most of my time, the games of yesteryear.

Path of Radiance..Merry Christmas me and one heck of a game, if you like the Fire Emblem series. Like many of the American Fire Emblem fans I got my start playing Marth in SSBM, and later Ike in SSBB. This is the first part of Ike’s story.

Secret of Mana...released a month or two ago on the VC. Another marvelous soundtrack, cooperative gameplay and a good story make this an RPG well worth playing through at least once. Tearjerker ending, too...you don’t see it coming til the last boss fight, even though hints are sprinkled all through the game.

Children of Mana (DS) is another game set in the World of Mana, somewhat similarish play mechanics to SoM so it’s good for a fix anyway...but don’t expect any nods to the original as far as music.

Adventures of Lolo is another puzzle game, originally released for the NES and now avail on the VC. This one’s pretty kid-friendly, other than the difficulty.

Might and Magic: Secrets of the Inner Sanctum...why blow smoke? I emulate. It’s a port of a classic PC RPG, but with greatly improved graphics and a very nice soundtrack for the time. Anyone who likes the really old, hard as heck, very few clues style of RPG, look into this. No handholding, but tons of fun.

But, why try to BS anyone...most of my time is split between World of Warcraft and Shards of Dalaya. Most of what’s left over goes to Brawl.

That is so cool. I will check it out. Now it on sale for 39 bucks so now is the best time to get it. Do I need that Wii Speak in order to use it or is it not necessary
