Don’t play a lot of games (though my wife and I have now decided we want a Wii.....loved playing her brother’s the other day).

But, my limited games are PC in nature.

I love Grand Theft Auto, not for the violence, but for the free nature of it. While there are missions, I enjoy the game just for the experience of driving different vehicles all over the map. It is just so freeing and fun.

Much better than a scripted game where you have to follow the levels. I hate those since you are stuck at the level until you can move on, so constricting.

Not with GTA. You go and do as you please if you decide to not go through all their setup stuff.

I haven’t got the new one since I am not sure if my computer will play it, but I loved San Andreas.

Anybody else try GTA 4?

Also, I do enjoy Age of Empires.

Yes, it's fun for the same reason e thothers are (vast sandbox freedom), but it's a little different than San Andreas.

The focus was more on realistic graphics, so the GTA4 universe isn't nearly as vast as San Andreas (more like Vice City in size). Also, there isn't too much you can do with your money; you can't buy properties and clothes and weapon options are more limited. I felt it took a little of the fun out of finding ways to make money.

Then there is a social aspect of the game, where you acquire friends and girlfriends who have rewards to offer. To unlock the rewards, you have to take them out drinking, go bowling, play darts, ect. After you've unlocked the reward though, you still have to maintain the friendship, and it gets annoying when you're trying to do your own thing and you're constantly getting phone calls inviting you out.

All and all, it's still a great game, but if you want something more similar to San Andreas, I'd highly recommend Saint's Row 2.
