For the edification of others (and from memory):
1) Insure: To exchange a small amount of money for the promise of a whole lot of money if a bad thing happens. Like what you do for your car in case you crash. You insure something with insurance.
2) Ensure: To make sure that something happens. You ensure the door is closed by pushing it hard, and turning the key in the lock.
3) Assure: To make someone feel comfortable about a situation. You can assure your friend that you closed the door well.
