Can’t share your enthusiasm for “Cable Guy” or any other Carrey movie, but they are entertaining. However, I’m not a big movie guy. I was listening to a talk show in St. Louis where callers and hosts, including a movie “expert,” voted “Dumb and Dumber” the funniest movie of all time. Can’t see it. I would have voted for “Airplane,” but what do I know? Movies are a personal taste and you like what you like.

It seems to me that CSI ripped off the concept for one of their episodes - of course they had to make him way creepier (and way less funny ;’}

I thought Jim Carrey was hilarious in that movie on so many levels. Matthew Broderick, however, brought it down to a “will-this-ever-end”. Other than Ferris Bueller, I really can’t think of another movie I’ve liked him in. Wait...I really liked him in Glory. Maybe that one with Meg Ryan. Otherwise, he just seems out of place in everything else I’ve seen.

They didn’t appreciate Carrey parodying their sacred Woodstock during the ‘karaoke bash’.

Actually, it is one of my favorite black comedies. I loved the people at Chip’s party. Wasn’t the policeman (who eventually arrested Matthew Broderick) at the party or at least in other scenes?

Cable Guy? nah.

For my taste, ‘Raising Arizona’ is the absolute pinnacle of comedy.

I’ve seen it once since it first came out, but I have the DVD. I think I’ll watch it again today.

Love The Cable Guy. It was actually the film that made me give Jim Carrey a second look. I hated the Ace Ventura/Mask slapstick stuff. Cable Guy was darker, edgier and made the audience palpably uncomfortable.

Right up there with my all-time favorite black comedy: Neighbors with Dan Ackroyd and John Belushi. Another film that was panned by critics and audiences, but still has developed a loyal cult following.

I loved it. Jim Carrey should have been nominated. He threw himself into that great role and I do not think I wll ever recover from watching the Kareoki night song.

This might have been a classic with a more subtle comedian like Michael Keaton. Carrey is over-the-top to the point of pain. Same goes for “Liar, Liar”.

Heh. I just watched this movie again the other day. It is a classic. Great movie. It’s especially eerie at the end where the Carrey is talking about how TV, telephone, and computer will all be integrated, etc. I was thinking we got there even faster than the script writers probably figured back in 1996.

It was a lousy movie and not a classic comedy. They guy was badly mentally ill with an evil twisted mind, ending up trying to commit suicide. Hardly a comedy in any book.

As I recall it started kinda funny but seemed to totally lose direction like they just made up the last bit as they were making it or something. It’s been a while though and I’m pretty sure I was high at the time.
