I know! Husband put it on for me because he knows I love it. We’re watching it on his BIG TV in hi-def. It’s awesome, though the soundtrack is a milli-second behind the lip action. ;)
LOVE those Ruby Slippers. If they weren’t $20K, they’d be mine. Can’t WAIT to see the Flying Monkeys.
Gotta go! :)
Born in 1952 ...I remember this being on TV every year around Christmas time when I was a kid and we all ( 4 sisters , one bro , my Mom ) watched it every time . Then , when my own daughter was little ( now 20 ) , she used to watch it quite often . So all told , I’d say I’ve seen this movie at least 20 times . One of the greats .
Shouldn’t this be in breaking news?
Righteous. Betcha they’re interrupting it every five minutes with commercials. Check out the whole series by L. Frank Baum with the original illustrations. Never got into the Ruth Plumley Thompson authored books, but I’m told some of them are even better.
When Dorothy and the Scarecrow are picking apples off the tree, the tree suddenly says, “What do you think you’re doing?” There’s another classic movie with this same line.
Can you guess what it is?
Yes it should :-)
We just watched it the other night on DVD and my wife put the subtitles on so she can sing it to our daughter when she is older..
How about a hint? Was this classic movie released before or after Wizard of Oz?
Hal?
After. It was also a family movie with big stars.
No fair googling! :-)
I think It was in Labyrinth also.
TNT is repeating it again! Right now!
A long time ago I noticed somewhere in that movie a guy wearing burmuda shorts get behind one of the trees in the background. I think it’s somewhere in the begining when they are making the trek down the yellow brick road, but I haven’t been able to find it again.
No, I’m not kidding. It was a stage hand of some sort.
One family movie with big stars I can think of is Mary Poppins (I’m sure I’ve heard the line “What do you think you’re doing” in that). Is that the movie you’re thinking of?
Think about the present economic crisis. Think about banks failing.
“It’s a Wonderful Life?”
