I know of a guy and his wife,in another state from mine, who have over 20 feral cats on their property. They have adopted five as inside pets, and they are trying to feed and attend the others.

I met a lady at my doctor’s office recently who told me about one of her friends who has rural property with a barn. She has taken around the same number of cats at her place. She mentioned an organization that is working with her to help defray costs of fixing them and feeding them.

The problem is truly overwhelming everywhere, even with organizations and individuals that are trying to work toward alleviating the problem. Wish every story could turn out like the one you posted for this thread, where every last animal was adopted, but, sadly, it can’t.

If a person adopts a child to be that child's forever family it is not much different from a person adopting a dog...

We apparently have different opinions as to the value of the life of a child.

Like you, I live in a rural “dumping” area”. All my pups and kitties have been dumpees. It seems to be cyclical, so sometimes there just isn't any more room at the inn. During those times my friends avoid me like the plague. They know I'm looking for homes, lol.

I try to give the “dumpers” the benefit of a doubt and tell myself these folks are just stupid and think the animals can survive on their own. Or, like you said, they think someone will be happy to take care of their responsibility. But then an older, infirm dog gets abandoned, and I can't talk myself into either theory.

I have a dream that I catch one of the “dumpers” and relocate them to a remote area. Oh, I won't leave them forever, I'll observe how they decide to get food, water or hope they can find a friendly house that won't run them off.

It's just a dream. I'd never do such a thing, I don't think.:)

Nice story. I’m glad no one was harmed and all the pooches found homes.

Thank you. I stole it all by myself. LOL

Actually, someone sent it to me in an email a few years ago.

Really? I have adopted dogs & cats & not paid a dime. I gave a donation. However when you adopt a child you pay for lawyer’s fees etc...

Dogs know the proper way to treat baby bunnies.

Your cat is more like Mrs p and I than our dog except that we treated the bunnies with a nice gravy and a side of mashed potatoes and green beans.

We apparently have different opinions as to the value of the life of a child.

A life is a life. If the choice were between saving a human and saving my dogs, I'd always choose the human life. I'm just glad that doesn't come up too frequently in my life.

I would no more approve of killing puppies than of killing UNBORN babies. One is looked upon as "better than the pound" which it's not. And the other is Liberal Agenda. One is not considered "murder" and the other isn't if you're a liberal, but is if you're a Conservative.

I do believe in spaying and neutering of animals.

One main difference between raising dogs over raising children is that you 'can' put a dog down. Children you have to send to college to turn into socialists. It's then that you think you wished you'd chosen raising dogs over children.

Yup, I'm teasing. Kind of. Both my children are Conservatives, even the one who went to college (in the South).

I know what you mean...it would certainly be tempting to make that dream a reality!

It’s bad enough when they dump any animal, but the helpless ones, puppies and those that are old or lame, really break my heart and get my hackles up.

Those we have kept have been the most loyal and loving pets. It’s as if they understand and appreciate what you’ve done by rescuing them, and they are devoted.

He looks capable of producing a fearsome amount of doggie drool. Just add tummy rubs!

Why don’t you start a cat thread and get your pathetic whiny ass off of this one?
