Now, a team of researchers lead by Professor Marco Falasca at Barts and The London School of Medicine and Dentistry has shown not only that the enzyme phospholipase Cγ1 (PLCγ1) plays a crucial role in metastasis formation, but that down regulation of PLCγ1 expression is able to revert metastasis progression.

"This is an exciting discovery. He has shown that turning off this molecule prevents metastasis. The simple fact is that if you stop metastasis, you stop cancer from killing people. We now need to focus on developing drugs that can block PLCγ1."
But if a drug company develops this drug, that could lead to an evil much greater than cancer deaths: pharmaceutical profits!

We're all better off dead!

The AMA and pharmacy companies will never allow a cure for cancer. They’ll only approve treatments and drugs that make them a ton of money. But a “cure” or a “prevention” - not a chance.

Does this possibility point to a ‘flaw’ in Capitalism?

Not any more than the Gallo/Montagnier AIDS discovery.

Yes, the mind set of the moon bat left (and some over here as well) is “HOW DARE THEY make a PROFIT off of sick people!”

Yes, how dare we get a return on the one drug that works to make up the money spent on the hundreds of potential drugs that failed to make it to market. How dare we offer new and innovative therapies that are so attractive to the afflicted over existing therapies that they are simply FORCED to buy our superior product.

The South Koreans were on to this in 2006. They found that the overexpression of Cγ1 (PLCγ1) played a major role in tumor development by increasing the MMP-3 signaling cascade. They proposed that regulation of Cγ1 (PLCγ1) would reduce the activity of said protein involved in tumor invasion and metastasis.

There are many ways without pharmaceuticals to keep cancer cells from metastizing.....too bad most medical professionals choose to ignore the information....

"The AMA and pharmacy companies will never allow a cure for cancer."

You obviously don't now why so many talented people choose medicine and medical research as a vocation.

I’m definitely not against drs. and researchers. But I doubt these individuals have the final say on which drugs are approved or released.

Apparently nature has already made a “drug” that inhibits the phopholipase enzyme - it’s called flax seed oil (active lignans) and flavonoids (citrus fruit, berries, onions, chocolate, red wine, etc.). See research article below from Archives of Pharmaceutical Research 2004:

Dr. Ji Suk Lee, et al, Inhibition of enzyme phopholipase by lignans and flavans, J. of Pharm. Res., Vol. 27, No. 10, 1043-1047, 2004:

Yep....loads of research of lignans! Also ...Fermented Wheat Germ Extract (Avemar) and Modified Citrus Pectin (Pectasol) have been well researched. We use them all in the clinic I manage...depending on the patient need, of course ;)

Here's my question: If somebody can spell "enzyme," "phospholipase Cγ1 (PLCγ1)," and "metastasis," why can't he spell "led"?
