Investigators found a trail of bones over the weekend in a wooded area near the Orlando home of missing child Caylee Anthony as the FBI worked to identify a skull discovered there last week.

The new bones were located in an area less than a half-mile from the home the young child shared with her mother and grandparents, George and Cindy Anthony, and a lawyer for the couple said the family was preparing for the worst.

"They're devastated," Brad Conway told MyFOXOrlando.com. "They're trying to deal with this the best they can. They're realistic about the probability that it's Caylee, but they pray it's not."

Orange County Sheriff’s Office officials confirmed more bones were discovered at the site over the weekend as investigators sifted through soil.

They admit they were "not being realistic" before the bones were found?

“devastated” my ass ,, they’ve been the lead in the cover up ,, right from the beginning by not reporting for over a month,,, the grandfather (ex-detective) knows how to hamstring an investigation... he’s just po’d that his stupid daughter didn’t dispose of the body in a better location.

....search of the grandparents' home where the mother and daughter lived had also yielded links to the remains that he would not reveal.

More to come....

I want to know why they didn't ask about her the whole month before she was listed as missing.

I think they've been protecting their spoiled daughter all along.

I can't imagine going a whole week, much less a whole month without talking to my granddaughter.

Caring grandparents would have had contact with their granddaughter in a month's time.

After Casey is found guilty, take her to Fl. State Prison in Stark. Strap her to a bed in the general population area and remove all guards from the area. Wait 24 hours and ask her how she feels.

Is that harsh?

It seems Caylee was wrapped in a blanket/towel or something according to reports on Fox News that linked the home to the crime scene.

A theory that runs through my head on this (totally unsubstantiated, of course) is that Casey weighted down the trash bag with something heavy, (not knowing that bog would dry out).... maybe something like a landscape stone or chunk of concrete -- or anything like that) which could be tied to the home.

It could be a towel. There might be a matching one in George and Cindy’s house.

Just let Casey free around her old neighborhood. You don't even have to take her to prison to get the same results IMO.

Casey is not a very sympathetic figure so her defense is going to have a hard time trying to explain how a ‘mother’ does this to her child and shouldn't get life or the death penalty (if they put it back on the table).

It sounds as if she had a case of ‘Susan Smith’ syndrome by trying to get rid of her responsibility to her child in exchange for a new sperm donor/shack up or whatever you want to call it.

I suggest that Casey share a cell with Susan Smith...they’d have a lot of good stories about child rearing </s

They routinely checked in with their daughter and asked about their grandaughter for the first month she was missing. They were only clued into to the fact that something was amiss when they were called about their car being towed, the car their daughter had been using. They went to retreive it and said they smell decomposition, g-dad is ex-lawenforcement, g-mom is a nurse, so they would know that smell. Grandma then hunted down their daughter, calling friends and driving all over until they found her. She demanded to see her grandaugher and said she would drive to the babysitter’s house to get her, where mom said she was. At that point, daughter admitted that baby was “kiddnapped” Mom called 911 and mentioned the decomp smell.

Since then, they have defended their daughter, I think to avoid the reality that their granddauther was dead. Now that it’s staring them in the face, they might change their tune.

I concur with your summary to this point, but I would add that their "defending of her" borders on obstruction. They spoiled that brat and then covered up for her when they came to the conclusion that she had murdered her own child.

Until some point, they didnt know who had driven that car, or whether or not there had nbeen a babysitter, etc. But only a dolt would miss the truth at this point in time.. IMO.

It's my understanding that this is pretty classic behavior when a mother or other close relative kills a child. They cover the body with a blanket as if they are still taking care of the child.
