As per the request of many, here's a holiday gathering place for FReeper dog lovers...grab some hot cider, have a seat in front of the fire with your faithful companion curled up at your feet and tell your dog stories here, share your pics, and enjoy!
This is a friendly gathering, and is NOT the place to bash pit bulls, argue about whether dogs were created or evolved, etc. Those that can't keep a muzzle on it will end up in the doghouse.
Although this is primarily for members of the FReeper Doggie Ping List, non-members who happen to stray in will be welcome and are also invited to post pics of your iguanas, ferrets, exotic fish or whatever other furred, feathered or finned companions you'd care to share with us.
As some of you know, I've been working back in the northeast for a few months and found some time in my schedule to make a pilgrammage to New Skete Monastery on Saturday morning. I'll look forward to all the pics and pet stories tomorrow evening when I get back!
Enjoy!!
Don’t tell me your cuties are spoiled too??? LOL! I used to have a GSP when I was growing up. One of the best dogs I ever had (besides Suzi Q of course) - he was my buddy. So intelligent! I still think of him.
GSP Rule, other pups DROOL!!
Your dogs are soooooooo cute!
I hope this works, if it does, I will post a couple more.
This is Falco at 5 1/2 months, taken about 2 weeks ago.
I think he’s kinda goofy looking at this age with those Obama like ears...

Well, back to the drawing board.
We will follow you anywhere (just don’t make us walk in the deep snow...) LOL...
funny picture...:-)
Lucius and Chantel are just too cute! I’d love to get a little sis or brother for Suzi Q (if I could talk my hubby into it). They have a saying about Shelties. “They’re like potato chips - you can’t have just one.” But then again, Suzi Q’s been the center of attention for so long, she wouldn’t know what to think!
Oh, BTW, all your pics have lifted our spirits immensely, thanks!
I’m so very sorry to hear about your pooch...that is NOT easy. Even though you did the right thing, it’s NOT EASY!!!
Thanks, BG! No, it’s not easy at all. You get so close to them and then they’re suddenly gone. It’s like you’ve got this big old void in your heart that never gets filled. Heck, I still get glum when I think of dogs I lost years and years and years ago. They’re very special creatures, that’s for sure.
The void never quite goes away....as you know.
When my first GSD was getting old, and I could see the arthritis setting in...and then a few seizures...I knew her time with us was short. So...I started looking around for a breeder, found one I liked and, well....Heidi was put down, I called, and she had a litter JUST BORN.
We were able to grieve for Heidi for 6-7 weeks, but look forward to the new one at the same time. I know this isn’t for everyone...but I do NOT regret my decision for a moment.
Then Gramps started feeling not well...so I decided he “looked like he needed a puppy”. *gak* So, we have two GSD’s now...one two years old, the other one.
The mistake I made there was not letting the older one get to be about 2 before I bought the second. But it has all worked out in the end.
Wow, our last couple of dogs have been GSDs. Never had two at one time though. Bet that’s a handful, lol! Greatest dogs in the world, imho!
The little one is SOOOOOOOOOO smart she scares me. :)
Gotta go get the Canteen thread ready. I vil be bach!
