Okay, check THIS out:

I'm watching the local Sacramento news at 5:30 this morning on ABC (That just happened to be the station it was tuned to, and I don't have cable!), all of the sudden they break away to catch the live nominations for the Golden Globes. I'm thinking... WTH!?? Who gives a CRAP!!

So I figure, I'll go to the FOX station, they won't be covering this garbage. WRONG!! I flip through EVERY FRICKIN' station that has local news... 3, 10, 13, 31, 40... ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, The CW! EVERY last one of them are covering the live nominations of the STINKING GOLDEN GLOBES!

The Lame-Stream-Media cares SOOO MUCH about what goes on in Frickin' Hollywood, that they break away with LIVE coverage for some STUPID nominations!

THAT'S NEWS??!! Since when is this crap news??!!

Not even THE WINNERS of the Golden Globes would be news and yet they have to break away for the DAMN nominations?!

It's no STINKING WONDER that this country has fallen down as far as it has when all the news stations think this is important!

Yes we are, Drudge included.

While the economy tanks and scandal whirls around 0bama and friends, Drudge’s headline today is of the exact “awards” of which you speak.

Unbelievable. And who cares about movies and the “stars” therein?

The Oscars and Golden Globes were major news when Reagan, Bush and Bush II were elected as well. Fascination with Hollywood is nothing new ... and doesn’t really have any bearing on elections.

Great minds think alike.

I can’t believe it, I logged on to say the exact same thing.

Bread and Circuses.

When The Golden Globe nominations are major news...

...you should ask yourself, "what are they trying to distract me from?"

I have to be VERY careful about watching TV nowadays.

If I go with the way I feel about MOST of the stuff that’s on... I’d be buying new televisions every week, because the one’s I have would have broken screens!

Bread and circuses

I'd never heard of that before! I just googled it up and I see what you're talking about! Ain't that the TRUTH!?

Is there any surprise when more adults vote on American Idol than for President and can’t even pass a simple civics test?

The Golden Globes are junk but you don't think American culture is important?

It’s pretty pathetic for sure!

There’s so much CRAP on TV, from gay agendas on practically every damn show to global warming scare-mongering, my wife gets tired of me yelling at all the commercials, shows, and news! (That’s about everything!)

Thank goodness I don’t watch that much anymore. I’d rather get the REAL news here or just play word games on line!

Shoot! Fox News devoted gobs of time to cover a press conference of a lottery-winning team from some factory. Lotteries are for suckers but this press conference went on all during the time I sat in Subway eating lunch. Forget the hard news!

The Oscars were big news in the 1930s.

Entertainment news isn't news at all, i.e. it really isn't that important in the big scheme of things. Yes, it is a billion-dollar industry and employs a lot of people. So, in the business sense it has some importance. But as to what actually is produced in Hollywood, most of it is worthless crap that is has no real effect on the lives of most people outside the industry. Maybe we need our diversions.

Come on you don’t think the culture at large is newsworthy? It’s a big part of people’s daily lives.

In the big scheme of things, no it isn't. These aren't news items that truly affect the lives of Americans. Political news is newsworthy because actions undertaken by government have a direct effect on virtually everyone under the influence of that government, federal, state or local. Even business news is newsworthy because it can have an effect on people, mostly on their pocketbooks. But Hollyweird? Please. Most of the entertainment news is contrived, anyway, dreamed up and pimped by agents and studio execs.

I’m not extolling this particular news item but the books people read and the films they see shape the way they think and therefore shape the culture in significant ways which affects all of us.

I am kinda curious about Oscars/Golden Globes, I want good movies to get the nominations and walk off with the awards. Just because the world is going to hell in a hand basket, doesn’t mean that there is not more to life than politics.
