Perhaps you are using the “FreeRepublic” link in the top left corner to toggle back and forth? When you click the FR link top left now it doesn’t take you from the homepage to the articles but always stays on the homepage.

I sign in every time now as well because I mistakenly thought I had to do so. It was that I was still trying to use the top left link to get to the articles. Hope this helps.
