Geology Picture of the Week, Dec. 7-13, 2008: Torri del Vajolet (Vajolet Towers)
Posted on 12/10/2008 7:55:12 PM PST by cogitator
Found this in the Flickr collections. Black and white always is reminiscent of Ansel Adams. The building is a hiker/trekker "refugio" -- nice place to stay below the towers. There are lots and lots and lots of pictures of these features! (Click for full-size.)

TOPICS: Arts/Photography; Education; Science; Travel
KEYWORDS: dolomites; erosion; italy; refugio
The Torri del Vajolet are located near Moena, Italy. Also nearby is the picturesque, extremely clear Karersee/Lago di Carezza, depending on whether you prefer German or Italian in this part of northern Italy.

Odd.
You don’t think of Italy having a stark rocky desert appearance like the Monument Valley or nuclear test sites in Nevada.

Yes please. I'm going back to school for a graduate degree in geophysics.
I like rocks, volcanoes, and stuff.
