His autobiography is fascinating reading. Literally a rags to riches story. He wrote about how one year when he was in New York City and a struggling young actor he was so down and out that he was actually turned away by the Salvation Army on Thanksgiving. The next year he was in a hit show and had Thanksgiving dinner at the mansion of a wealthy family. Just fascinating stuff.
