Jim Morrison's dad dies aged 89

The Doors star Jim Morrison's father has died, aged 89.

Rear Admiral George Morrison died of natural causes on 17 November.

A veteran of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor in 1941, Morrison was largely disowned by his rock star son, who insisted his parents were dead in early interviews.

The feeling was mutual - the seaman rarely discussed his son as he rose up the ranks.

In 1990, Morrison visited his son's grave in Paris, France and had a plaque installed.

Shortly after the Morrisons moved to Coronado, California in 2002, the admiral's wife died, and reports suggest he has been in declining health ever since.

Rear Admiral Morrison's private memorial service was held last Wednesday at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California.

haha, nice plot!

I’ve been encouraging my boss to move my colleague, named Burt, into an assistant position under a project manager named Ernie, on another project.

So far no luck. Oh well.

Pamela and Jim were never married. Yes, there was a fight over his estate only after Pamela’s death.

Jim left everything to Pamela. After her death three years later of a heroin overdose, the fight between the families began.

In the end, the Courson and Morrison families ended up splitting the estate up between them.

True, Alcohol was his drug of choice and pills. It was Pamela who was the needle user.

Oh yeah, I forgot Tommy Lee works in my office too. Not sure if his wife’s name is Pamela though.

It must have been very hard for him to watch his son destroy himself.

I saw the Doors in the sixties and am still a big fan today.

The other band members, who in my opinion are vastly underated, were not big drug users. I think the idea that substance use enhances creativity in artists, even avant garde types, is totally false.
