I have a problem and I can't find any good answers online. I have a nice new LCD TV that I just got for our kitchen. Unfortunately, there is no cable jack in our kitchen and we have been told by our cable company that they can't put one in. I have an appointment with Best Buy's Geek Squad, who told me they can usually get one in even when the cable company can't. But I'm not certain they can do it. In the meantime I have this awesome HDTV but I get terrible reception as I am using old fashioned rabbit ears.
Thx in advance.
Find where it comes into your house. Measure the distance. Go to Radio shack buy a spliter, screw in the cable to the spliter and hook it up to the TV. have a beer.
get a spliter and a whole bunch of co-ax. staple it to your baseboard/door frames as you make your way from your working cable jack to your kitchen. enjoy.
Unless you’re watching the Food Network, one should never have a TV on in the kitchen. It will ruin your appetite.
You can run cable anywhere it just depends on how much you want to spend and tear into if you lived in So Cal id be happy to help but you don’t good luck to you
to get cable you will need, ummm, how else can I say this, a CABLE. As for the HDTV and rabbit ears, replace the ears with an HDTV antenna (they are cheap) and your picture will improve significantly.
I should have added; I’d like it to not look too bad.
I could use some ruining of my appetite. Maybe I’d lose a couple of pounds :)
You need a jack. All the cable runs need to be homeruns. Daisy chained set-ups are for the birds.
Go the Fry’s and get 100’ or whatever reaches of Rg 59 coax..and some hardware...(splitter.....tell the kids not to trip on the cable/.
What is under your kitchen? Crawl space or basement?
or just hope those nerds can help you out.
or run the wire under your floor. staple it to the ceiling of your basement. drill a hole in your kitchen floor and run the cable up through the floor.
looks decent enough.
There is also a neat product that looks like trim strip that is hollow (comes in two parts, one screwed/glued to wall, the other clips onto it).
I’ve had it used to run electrical and cable into a cement-walled basement room.
It’s basically invisible -— Lowes.
Google “wireless tv transmitter”. If you want it neat this might be the best way to go.
Go to Fry’s...or whatever electroics store is close.
I had a HD Plasma installed in a room where there was no cable before and the people I bought the TV from did all the wire work running cable and electric through the ceiling and down inside the wall to the back of the TV. No wires showing at all. I imagine the Geek Squad could do the same for you.
