Marissa went to bed last night hoping for snow.
We get snow about every 50 years.

The snow level has been very low so lots of unusal snow in areas of California.

Praying for all across our nation who are suffering due to this bad weather.

Enjoy today by sitting in front of the fireplace, Lady.

Good afternoon, Dita.

Hope you are having a Magnificent Monday.
It is a little warmer today than it was yesterday but another storm in headed our way.
I'm sure you will get another blast also.

Take care and have a beautiful day.

Happy Monday, Billie. That is a darling graphic. Thank you.

Thanks, Amy, and I'm enjoying all the pretty and cute Christmas graphics you're posting today!

I also want to say I just looked back over Sunday's thread, and what beautiful ornaments and Christmas graphics you posted all day, Meg.

Jaycee, I hope the doctor gives you something to get you back to 100% very soon. Thank you, and thank you, Majie, for the sweet comments on my Sunday offering.

I know everyone is busy this time of the year - it's very cold here today, and I am staying in, doing a little cooking I can prepare and freeze ahead of time. I just finished doing the 'twice-baked' potatoes and put in the freezer - ready for their second baking on Christmas Day. Always so glad to get that out of the way. :)

Thank you, Billie. So many of my graphics are old but I still like them. :)

That is a pretty and interesting wreath. I spotted the pheasant’s tail before I saw the pheasant. LOL

Thank you, Amy. I LOVE that pheasant - I bought two of them at a shop in Austin about 15 years ago - one for my tree, and one for the wreath on the front door. There was a decorator here who had an Open House a few years ago, and he used a REAL (dead) pheasant in one of his wreaths - it was awful! Love the feathers, don’t want the dead bird. :(

*Happy Monday Everyone*
It is cold! Ice in the birdbath cold!
I just had 6 Cardinals, chickadees, titmice,a white crowned sparrow and a Red Breasted woodpecker at my feeder and on
the patio.
The electrician came and all electrical problems solved..Needless
to say putting lights on the Nandina will wait til it's warmer..
I went to the grocery store and stocked up last night .No coat
was needed at 10pm as I left the store..Texas weather!

Lemon Cupcake Day

Ingredients:
1 1/2 cups self-raising flour
1/2 cup castor sugar
1/2 cup butter or margarine
the grated rind of one lemon
2 large eggs
lemon juice

Method: Cream together the butter/margarine and castor sugar. Beat in the eggs
one by one. Add the rind of the lemon. Add the flour using a sieve. Add the lemon
juice from the one lemon.

Divide into cupcake cases, about 12 to 15, bake for 12 to 15 mins at 375F. Test
for firmness and with a toothpick to ensure the center has been cooked. Cool.

Okay, now - the lemon cupcake looks delicious and moist....BUT, what the heck is "castor" sugar?! And "cupcake cases"??? Somebody help! :)

I think it is referring to cake four, our fine regular sugar..and paper liners?..Those are English terms from across the pond.
I’d love to have one right now..with lemon icing.

I hope Marissa was able to play in the snow. Snow seems to be big in the southern part of the US this season but I know it's coming to get us!

As for those who are suffering in the cold and dark due to these storms, prayers

LOL

Okay .. you put me to work. :)

“Castor or caster sugar is the name of a very fine sugar in Britain, so named because the grains are small enough to fit though a sugar “caster” or sprinkler. It is sold as “superfine” sugar in the United States.”

From what I could find, “”cupcake cases” are the baking cups.

At least ..... I didn’t post the metric measures. :^ )

Billie, there was a big article but I just copied this. Seems its the superfine sugar we already use, isn't that right? I was wondering if the cupcake 'cases'could be the cupcake papers you put in your muffin tins. They also come in foil. This is my guess only. I have to run to store for some "have-to's". Will let you know about the doctor later!

iced road and closed roads got me to thinking I crafted this for one of my Motorcycle poems.

At the End of The Road

It’s a long road, the way I took, so long ago
an asphalt ribbon to tie up my life’s flow
Now in the winter of my life, I look back and grin
for I had my time, of riding, troubles, and sin

Now there is only echoes, of pipes and life
the half remembered details of joy and strife
I’ve the scars, seen and not, healed and healing
in quiet repose there flows the depth of feeling

No snow ..... The only time she's seen snow was when we went to the Inaugeration in 2005. She loved it, even though we froze. She did cry when her hands got cold after making snow balls. :)
