Chicagoans Melody LaLuz, 28, and Claudaniel Fabien, 30, shared their first kiss Saturday at the altar. The two teach abstinence at the city's public schools and practiced what they preached to their teenage students.
The Chicago Tribune reports that the couple had never kissed and that they had never been alone together in a house.

Shomer nagia
Ok wise guy....how many couples practice this?
Anything less than 3% is extreme.
They are EXTREME!
What a beautiful and romantic photo. This is what love looks like.
Yep, that’s an excellent version of Pride and Prejudice; almost 100% faithful to the book, which stems from a time when first kisses at the altar were far more common than they are today.
While I won’t question their determination, there are certain things I want to know about the woman I am going to eventually divorce before marrying her, and how she kisses is one of them.
I wish them well.
That said, kissing is not sex and their behavior is bizzaro. Not kissing isn’t a sign of purity or following God’s plan. It’s an aberration IMHO.
I haven’t yet.
No one may be “demanding” that standard of others, but given that they teach an abstinence-only class, one could make the argument that they’re trying to present this strangness as normal to their students.
I agree more power to them. But you also have to question that if these same people are so determined not to kiss, they will also be determined to keep a marriage going even if they are miserable in it. Not saying all are miserable but the same logic applies.
Thanks for posting their photo, Yo-Yo.
To my knowledge, Shomer nagia was not a factor in this decision.
My former roommate and his wife did the same thing out of a commitment to purity.
you haven’t found a significant other or you haven’t kissed your S/O yet?
Were they cool about it or did they turn it into an attention-grabbing, showboating thing?
I think one would have to be stretching to make that argument.
I don’t think any of their students will walk away with the assumption that it is “normal”.
But I think that they will know that should any of them make that same commitment, their role models (and all persons in authority are defacto role models for young people) have done so.
LOL!
I haven’t dated, married, or kissed anyone.
Significant or otherwise.
You’re welcome.
Congratulations. That’s not an easy decision to make either.
Amen. God bless them both.
In the end, it’s their lives and their decision, and I respect that and am in no position to judge what works for them. I just find nothing particularly laudible about this.
