Chicagoans Melody LaLuz, 28, and Claudaniel Fabien, 30, shared their first kiss Saturday at the altar. The two teach abstinence at the city's public schools and practiced what they preached to their teenage students.

The Chicago Tribune reports that the couple had never kissed and that they had never been alone together in a house.

How wonderful for this couple! I’m already praying for the future spouses of my children. I hope that they are this extreme. Then I won’t have to fret and worry!!! :o)

It is an interesting concept but I doubt this would work for everybody.

I know it would not have worked for me as twice I ended relationships after the first kiss. There was caring, friendship, mutual values and goals but something still was lacking. A spark if you will.

On the other hand the moment I kissed my husband to be everything snapped into place. It was right and he was the one I had waited for.

It’s almost like a Rorschauch test or something...

Very revealing what people see.

Apparently to some here on FR, waiting until marriage for sex and kissing (which is just a continuum, really) is a terrible thing.

I wonder what business it is of theirs.

Why are some people so eager to drag everyone down to their level? Guilty consciences?

Social liberals demand that we tolerate the most disgusting, immoral and sick behavior. Yet chaste or sexually restrained behavior - wow! - they can’t tolerate it!

Pretty funny actually.

I’m impressed at the number of Freepers who have themselves made this commitment (or have had relatives/friends make similar commitments)

Congratulations to you and Mrs. Titus; I wish more people could say that they have a marriage with no regrets. May you both have a long and wonderful marriage, which your children and grandchildren emulate.

I take it that all the little “SamIams” are far too young for dating or marriage.

When the time comes, May they arrive at the altar with no regrets, but a bold confidence knowing that they honored themselves, their loved ones, and their God.

Not surprising; we’ve probably all known people who wish they hadn’t kissed “x” or slept with “y” or done “z” with “aa”-—some here probably have such secret regrets; there are probably hundreds, if not thousands of posters on FreeRepublic who have such private regrets.

Perhaps for some of these, the discussion of a couple who has avoided those particular pitfalls is a mirror into which they dare not glance; so they attempt to smash it.

I don’t know if the bride or groom (or anyone involved with/attending the wedding) has read or participated in this thread, but if they do, it’s disheartening to realize that some of our posters stooped to the level of DU members or KosKids in their mockery of the couple.

It would be a disappointment if their first introduction to FreeRepublic was this thread.

There was a wedding in my church (Reformed Baptist) just this past September where the parents arranged the marriage, they courted in the presence of the families, and their first kiss was at the altar. The couple are both in their late twenties.

They are ecstatically happy every Sunday when I see them.

Kissing, for people practicing chastity, can be more intense than for people who are not, and can quickly and lead to other activities.

Exactly. While we didn't make it to the wedding without kissing, we did wait quite a while. Although, being committed Christians, we had a very short engagement ;). Kissing is definitely a "gateway drug" for those who want to remain pure before marriage.

When you know God has brought you together, you don't have to fret about "kissing compatibility" -- if it's not there at first you'll work it out. But 99% of the time it's *definitely* there, hence the hesitation to go down that road (as little jeremiah stated)!

“Any person who would have the conviction not to kiss before their wedding day has demonstrated they possess the willpower, stamina and conviction to stick through a marriage, no matter what.

We need more people with that level of conviction.”

Not only do we need more people like this, we need more TEACHERS teaching our children this! God bless these two as they continue to fight the culture current for our kids!

We had a short engagement too...

People ‘testing the product’ to determine sexual compatibility are treating their partners like commodities and may well search for a new commodity when the fire works die down.
