CAN THEY DO THAT???!!!! :(
Unfortunately, yes.
When a Senate seat becomes vacant, the governor may appoint someone for a period of time (not sure about the length of this or any limits, per se, but read on...)
With Hiterly becoming SecState, her seat becomes vacant, and any New York resident can be appointed until a special election currently scheduled for early 2010. UOx42 lives in New York.
At least the folks in Westchester county would be happy - he'd be gone most of the time.
Last night I attended a wake; the wife of my long-time director (college choir, chorale, musicals, etc.) passed away suddenly of a massive stroke at the age of 78. He has to conduct a huge Christmas concert this weekend....chorale and symphony, two performances, Fri. and Sat. In his mind, "the show must go on". He is 83 years old. We are all stunned that he is going through with it but if anybody can do it, it is him. I am not in the concert itself but I am playing for the pre-concert entertainment in the lounge of the PAC, accompanying his daughter's vocal students on Christmas carols.
His wife's passing so suddenly reminds me how quickly things can change, and how we need to appeciate the time we have together.
p.s. It’s snowing again.:)
rehearsals.....
I told our band cohorts we might as well start bringing our jammies when we go to each others house on a daily basis for these rehearsals.
Look at meeeeee! Look at meeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!
How very true. The holidays can be very difficult for those grieving, those under stress.
They are just lobbying for their piece of the bailout.
I just love my little kitty (getting to be a big cat now) but is driving me crazy. He happened to put his tail over a candle and learned fast not to do that.
The kids got he Christmas tree up and all dressed up yesterday and the goodies go UNDER the tree just real soon and somehow know the wee little ones and Allie are going to mop up on Christmas night which reminds me, gotta go to the store again to get some more things shortly.
Just wanted to say hi and bye. Have a good day.
Toby
Well, doesn't that just make my day.:(
You know, most normal ex-presidents would be content to stay in the shadow, rest on their laurels, etc. But then, Mr. Bill "LOOK AT ME! LOOK AT ME!! LOOK AT ME!!!" Clinton is not a normal, rational human being.
lol, GMTA.
GAG
On Thanksgiving Day I was on my foot for way too long...had dinner at my house and the dr. had said I could stand on it with equal weight. Well sometime mid morning I realized I was not equal. All my weight had shifted to my injured foot. :(
Now I feel a hard bump at the base of my scar. Should I be feeling my pins/screws?
I had surgery with screws on my left foot and I could feel the head of the screw for years, not sure why I can't now. But this just appeared since Thanksgiving.
I see the dr. tomorrow. But I'm just worried sick about this. Anyone know anything about permanent screws/pins in your feet?
Oh kassie, I am so sorry to hear this. I do not know about permanent screws etc. of the medical kind. My only knowledge of permanent screws is the kind we all ecperience from Washington and fixed elections.
You have called your doctor , correct? Oh my...
Oh, poop. That took the glow off the day.
And that's where the Senate failed in their duty.
The gift that keeps on giving. Thanks Arlan.
I have a regular check up with him for tomorrow.
Don’t jump to conclusions about that bump, kassie. I might be scar tissue.
I don’t have any pins and screws in my feet/ankles,,, mine are in my nice,, they hold the titanium rod where it’s suppose to be.
Dusty is thinking it might be scar tissue. It’s just that they appeared over night, but he says I was on it and that perhaps all the swelling has made them hard and more noticeable.
I’m telling you I am just sick about it.
