MONTGOMERY TOWNSHIP A standoff at a Somerset County bank ended when police learned a "person" seen inside was actually a life-size cardboard figure.
Officers went to the PNC Bank in Montgomery Township after an alarm sounded there at about 8:40 p.m. Thursday. Upon arrival, they saw what they thought was at least one person through the windows of the bank, which had its blinds drawn.
The area was sealed off and three nearby apartment buildings were evacuated as a precaution. Meanwhile, authorities used bullhorns and made phone calls in a bid to make contact with whoever might be in the bank.
After repeatedly failing to get a response, a SWAT team entered the building shortly after 10 p.m. and discovered the cardboard figure.
It was not immediately clear what set off the alarm, and authorities were trying to determine whether anyone had tried to enter the bank.

Meanwhile, bank robbers cleared out a bank across town...
I walked into the store at 6:30 one morning and ended up drawing down on a lifesize cutout of Arnold Palmer, part of a new lawnmower display.
“The cardboard figure was immediately taken into custody.”
And stated: “I just want to spread the wealth around”.
