Al Gore’s work is never done. How do you say “Carbon Credit” in Alpha Centaurian?

Discovered for the first time in the atmosphere of a planet orbiting another star.To be detectable from such distance means there are massive quantities of CO2 in the atmosphere

However, the planet, HD 189733b, is too hot to be habitable. "Yesss! My scam is saved! Tipper, pack my 'Carbon Credits' sales kit, we're going to HD 189733b!"

I would think O2 would be a much more reliable indicator. The 21% O2 vs. 0.03% CO2 in our atmosphere was created artificially by billions of years of plant life. A planet with unexplained green tinges would also be a likely candidate.

Interesting how the MSM labels Carbon dioxide a “fingerprint of life” when detected on an alien world, but they call it a greenhouse gas on Earth. To be consistent, not that one can expect logical consistency from the MSM, the title of the article should be “Greenhouse Gas Detected on Faraway World”.

CO2 a fingerprint for life ? I thought Mars had an atmosphere that is over 90% CO2?

It'll be a riot when this exoplanet is found to be colder than the freezing temp of water on Earth.

Of course the coordinates will be kept secret for fear that our fellow plunderers will join forces and destroy the only truly pristine planet left in the universe...
