"Sometimes they go fast, sometimes they go slow. They make no noise," said McCullough.
McCullough and Lancaster aren't sure what they captured on video. The executive director of the Austin Planetarium doesn't know either.
"It doesn't look like anything I can recognize," said Torvald Hessel.
Hessel, an astronomer, says the objects don't move like an airplane.
"There's a military base close by, so that would be possible, and they are not going to tell you if they're flying something special," said Hessel.
But Hessel doesn't think the shapes are weather balloons, comets, or shooting stars.
"It's an unidentified flying object," said Hessel. "I'm not saying it's little green men at all. It's just something we see flying in the air, and we don't know what it is."
The Austin Planetarium plans to try to enhance the video to see if some answers can be identified. The video enhancement will take a few days at least. In the meantime, Lancaster and McCullough say they'll keep watching the sky.
Lancaster and McCullough say they first saw the objects back in April, then didn't see them again until September. They tell CBS 42 they've consistently seen the objects since then.

Recreational chemical use is so pervasive in central Austin that the amazing thing about this story is that there isn’t a sea monster involved.

Hey—this is in my neck of the woods. I seldom look at stars, but I’m now going to make it a nightly thing to do for a while. I’ll have my video camera at the ready —LOL!

Big deal. At my place there's this really bright object in the sky that appears every morning and slowly moves across the sky, disappearing just in time for nightfall.
It happens like, every day.

Some men who live in a Central Austin apartment building say they've seen bizarre things in the sky for months
Interesting, but why was this only observed by only some men who live in a Central Austin apartment building.
First of all, does Central Austin have men only apartment buildings? If not, then why didnt any women see them? Why were all these men hanging out together? Do these men enjoy movies with gladiators? Were adult beverages involved? Seriously, inquiring minds really want to know!
On a more serious note, I have a new job and commute from my home well north of Baltimore to Annapolis and pass very close by and right under a major flight path for BWI airport twice a day.
Just last week, while traveling home just after dusk on route 97, I observed an airliner coming in for a landing. The plane was banking hard and at an angle that made its true shape and its landing lights at an angle that I could not see, and while at my ground level it was pretty much dark, the plane was just high enough to catch the last rays of the setting sun.
At first glance what I saw was cylindrical, almost spherical object, a bright silvery object, hanging nearly motionless in front of me that suddenly appeared to speed up.
When I first saw it, although I knew it was an airplane, I thought, it sure looks like a UFO.
Of course as I got closer, and my and the planes angle changed and the plane banked in the opposite direction, I could very clearly see its wings and landing lights and knew it was an airplane. But for a very brief moment
but then again I was sober and not a guy having a hold ma beer moment - :),

A recent report released by the British government talks about 2 F15’s chasing a UFO the size of an aircraft carrier.
Carl Jung wrote an interesting book on UFO’s.
