ABC has Gotcha Gibson. NBC has Williams. CBS has Couric. Fox has............
Nothing. There is no national broadcast coming from Fox news.
This needs to change.
Seems like most of the cable/satellite shows could out do the current free TV media. I wonder why they haven’t moved into that market?
Why? The internet is better.
That’s what I’d like to know.
I can think if quite a few good conservatives who would make a half way decent anchor at 6:30 PM or whenever it was placed.
It isn’t like the big three haven’t gone down the partisan road, To my knowledge Couric isn’t even a journalist. She majored in what....... history?(which is a good thing don’t misunderstand)
I’d rather see FNC do something with the nights (besides Red Eye, which is a good show).
For all the brains Fox - news and broadcast - are supposed to have, they aren’t exploiting opportunities.
Because we need to compete. That’s why.
The networks are already in place. Fox affiliates are all over the nation. Why not use them?
Do something with the nights?
I realize they pull in money from pay tv. But they could expand. I watch the local FOX station in Dallas occasionally. I would much rather watch a national FOX news service adjacent to NBC, cBS, ABC.
Yeah. Fox News Channel just loops the early evening programming throughout the night.
Instead, I think, they should have more shows on. Maybe more Red Eye type material, or even live news. Just no more loops of O'Reilly, Greta, and H&C.
Maybe a max repeat of those once a night and make them available online (without DRM would be nice, but I'm dreaming), but do something with the night hours.
As for Fox broadcast, I don't think they would ever produce a 30/60 minute news program. It would be nice, but.. I just don't see it.
As would I.
I love internet, talk radio, and Fox’s role on cable is noteworthy. But let’s be realistic. All of these have their own limits.
I’m not afraid to admit, I also regularly pay attention to the liberal outlets in broadcast as well as newspapers to see what the talking points of the day are.
But I would much rather watch Fox’s nightly broadcast than the other three’s. But the fact that it doesn’t exist is a big problem! :-)
The networks’ “nightly news” shows are on deathwatch. I watch Britt Hume on FNC, that’s my “night;y news.” When the appalling Shep Smith comes on, I cut it off. I get more news from FR that I do from TV.
I thought Shep’s panting scream-a-thon was their Nightly News.
I get most of my news from FOX news off the internet and DirecTV. Those could go away at anytime.
Words and tone are important and this sounds rather pitchfork weilding and authoritarian...something that would normally be heard from a radical Leftist.
Oh, I see what you mean. Yeah, getting more talent in the door could surely be helpful as opposed to loop programming. I agree.
But as I just mentioned, while all we have built so far is incredibly helpful, internet, cable, and talk radio all have their limits.
A conservative leaning nightly news, our own wireservice to compete with AP, as well as something to knock down telemundo and univision are all something we’re gonna have to setup/demand/achieve before we can truely defeat this media.
All three are necessary.
Put it into Shepherd Smith’s slot and have E.D. Hill as the anchor. Buh, bye, Shep!
They are only on death watch because so many people are tuning out.
They have no place to ****TUNE IN*****.
It isn’t like tuning out CNN and tuning in Fox, that doesn’t exist in the broadcast world.
^^^^^^^^^I get more news from FR that I do from TV.^^^^^^^^^^^
Yeah, by choice. So many others actively seek out news because we know it’s tainted. That wouldn’t be necessary....... it shouldn’t be necessary.
That's all I mean.
I’m sure that if Fox thought they could make money with a nightly news program, they would have already done so.
This kind of show has really taken a hit in recent years, I can’t remember the last time I watched any of the existing programs. People had just as soon watch Jeopardy, Seinfeld reruns or local TV news.
Something tells me that Schwepp would like that....
