With a coming Obama presidency, and looming threats of localism, it's time to step up to the plate.

Seems like most of the cable/satellite shows could out do the current free TV media. I wonder why they haven’t moved into that market?

I’d rather see FNC do something with the nights (besides Red Eye, which is a good show).

For all the brains Fox - news and broadcast - are supposed to have, they aren’t exploiting opportunities.

The networks’ “nightly news” shows are on deathwatch. I watch Britt Hume on FNC, that’s my “night;y news.” When the appalling Shep Smith comes on, I cut it off. I get more news from FR that I do from TV.

I thought Shep’s panting scream-a-thon was their Nightly News.

Put it into Shepherd Smith’s slot and have E.D. Hill as the anchor. Buh, bye, Shep!

I’m sure that if Fox thought they could make money with a nightly news program, they would have already done so.

This kind of show has really taken a hit in recent years, I can’t remember the last time I watched any of the existing programs. People had just as soon watch Jeopardy, Seinfeld reruns or local TV news.

I really agree. They have local news, but they need a 30 minute news show that competes with Katie and Brian. They would probably be surprised that it draws in more viewers than King of the Hill reruns.

Then again, maybe not.

The cartoons the local stations run are way more profitable than any news broadcast.

Why? You don’t think Fox is really a conservative alternative do you?? More and better can be found on the internet....... but for how long?

Did it ever occur to you that Fox would have already done this if it was financial viable ?

Network news doesn't make money

There is no national broadcast coming from Fox news.

Actually, FNC is an entire channel dedicated to news. The 6:30pm slot for news broadcasts on the major networks are getting poor ratings and have been mostly shown to be unreliable and untrustworthy. My concern is more with the AM shows on the networks that intertwine politics with feel good concepts. These are subtle and not so subtle ways to indoctrinate.

Why? They are liberal enough now. We don’t simply need another liberal evening news. They have 100% of them now.

“it’s time to demand”

“this needs to change”

Uh, okay.

By the way, Fox is a tabloid.

I believe that is what FNC considers the 1-hour Fox Report, every night of the week at 7 PM to be.

Fox has Shep Smith a rabid Democrat, Colmes a rabid liberal, BOR a middle of the road Democrat. I don’t want more of that on the nightly news.

I want the truth and we don’t have anything but the Internet to get the truth out and spread around.

It would really help if they would first hire reporters. BOR is a commentator so is Smith. H&C are not reporters but actually commentators no real news their either. Their show as well is a joke now. A NYC neocon vs a NYC Liberal? It's getting very old. Brit Hume is a reporter and a good one but needs to ditch the current format and actually report the news. Enough of Mort, Fred, Juan, and the other guys who's routines and comments everyone should now know by heart. The mandatory doses of Jerry {Snidely Whiplash} Rivero on every show Thursday-Sunday especially need to go. He's a tabloid has been and cheapens the network just by being there.

Bring back John Gibson and give him the Shep or BOR slot. Give one of their best actual reporters say Patty Brown an hour show. She could take H&C's slot and still keep ratings up as she actually can report the news in a professional manner so you can take her serious. Let her use the best part of FOX News which is their foreign correspondents. On that they are tops but do not utilize them near enough. Move some of the better of those to U.S. venues. Ditch the highly irritating non news Fox News alert and instead have the reporters just tell us. Get s news crew to cover after 10:00pm and weekends if CNN can do it so can FOX. Shorten the talking head shows and extend top of the hour and half hour news to 5-7 minutes to cover headlines etc.

Fox has a nightly news program - “Special Report” with Brit Hume.

Check it out sometime. It’s on at the same time as the others you listed, except that it’s an hour long, where theirs are half-hour newscasts. So it comes on a half-hour earlier.
