Yes, but don't you think that all Hawaiians would be automatically “converted” to US citizenship after the change of nationality?

But doesn’t being born on American soil make him a citizen?

When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu Hawaii became a state in 1959. He was born in Hawaii in 1961. That makes him a natural born citizen, regardless of his father's citizenship.

When Barack Obama Jr. was born on Aug. 4,1961, in Honolulu, Kenya was a British colony, still part of the United Kingdoms dwindling empire. As a Kenyan native, Barack Obama Sr. was a British subject whose citizenship status was governed by The British Nationality Act of 1948. That same act governed the status of Obama Sr.s children.
Since Sen. Obama has neither renounced his U.S. citizenship nor sworn an oath of allegiance to Kenya, his Kenyan citizenship automatically expired on Aug. 4,1982.

Sorry, that particular dog won’t hunt. As a minor, he could be both a natural born US citizen and a UK citizen. This has been explored.
There are other legit questions about his citizenship status, though.

Unless there is a community named “Honolulu, Kenya”, I'm guessing you're grasping at nonexistent straws.

If he was indeed born in Hawaii, then he is also a US citizen and a native-born one at that.
While I dislike Obama as much as anyone, and I do have legitimate questions about his past, if this is how it works out, it doesn’t matter.
A child can have dual citizenship at birth - happens all the time. The fact that his British/Kenyan citizenship “expired” in 82 leaves him solely a US citizen, who was native born, assuming he was born in Hawaii.

People, the argument here is that his dual citizenship at birth (admitted by the Obama campaign) is in conflict with his being a “natural-born citizen.” I’m not sure there’s a conflict, but please at least address that issue in your responses, since that’s the point the poster is trying to make.
