I just heard this story on the radio!
What a Quaker looks like...they are highly intelligent birds....I think this story is one of many that demonstrates these birds are more than mimicking when they speak; they are truly communicating. (More so than that last female caller on Chris Plante)

My nanday conure is our ‘watchdog’ and on two occasions we’ve had ‘ethnic youth’ try to sneak up to our door to do something wrong and the conure will scream to the heavens and literally chase away the potential intruders.

Good thing Colorado is not one of the several states that have banned Quaker Parrots or the little girl probably would have died.

There are CD’s and tapes you can buy that can teach your bird to talk when you’re out of the house. Ask at your local bird shop.

In some states they are illegal, or one needs a special permit to keep a Quaker. If anyone wants to own one, check the local law.
