if Penn State and Minnesota had both gone undefeated (and don't play each other), how would they determine who the conference champion was?

I do believe the Rose Bowl bid in such a situation goes to the team that has been away (from the Bowl) the longest.

Where are they getting Pitt from? Pitt is ranked 21st now.

The Big East gets a BCS bid. Pitt is in a 3-way tie in the standings right now and controls their own destiny.

Part of it is marketing - controversy generates free publicity.

A good 8 team playoff would take the top two teams from the SEC, top 2 from the Big 12, top teams from the Pac 10, Big 10 and ACC, and one at large.

Round 1
Rose Bowl (Pac 10/Big 10)
Sugar (SEC 1 v. At Large)
Orange (ACC v. Big 12 2)
Fiesta (Big 12 1 v SEC 2)

Round 2
Rose v. Fiesta winner
Orange v. Sugar winner

Round 3 National Championship

Baby steps. You’re going to have a 4-team playoff before you get an 8 team one.

They’ve already de-coupled the National Championship game from the 4 big bowls. They have been moving the Big Game days away from Jan. 1. All they need to do now is make it a full week or so after (Monday night) and have the Jan 1 bowls rotate as a play-off.

OUsucks is going to overtake Texas to go to the BCS Game? Uh no.

The formula will favor Texas if the Horns win out and OUsucks beats Tech.

I think Buckeyes should be good next year. As I understand they had a top recruiting season last year for O Linemen. They even now have a freshman or two on the line. If they can recruit or develop a RB the quality of Beanie Wells that would be a plus. I dont know if Beanie will come back for his senior year or not.

My flimsy crystal ball tells me they should be back in the thick of things next year and possibly in ‘10.

Good balls, GOP_R. It's always dark when the heartland isn't represented. I have been a fan of OSU for quite some time. They were the only college football games on CBS when I was a kid. We got the Yankees, Cleveland Browns and Ohio State week after week. Of course, there were only two commercial tv stations then, if you can believe it.

So I've always been a Buckeye and Yankees fan. Used to be close with the browns (small "b" but they moved the franchise to Baltimore).
