Thanks for the link. He obviously has acquired much wisdom and insights about these times which I happen to agree with the worldly part of it.

He lost me when he said he was a hypnotist. I don't believe in it because I don't believe in consciously turning my free will over to anyone else voluntarily. Plus I don't want to buy a cd where Jesus taught freely. It's all in God's word.

He's probably right about a lot of the rest I heard in the worldly sense. God can use anyone.

I'm not saying I know it all. I don't. He did say some things that just in what I listened to might help getting rid of the negativity and fear in my life. I'll take it from there.

I cut it off after he used that young girl with what I would call guided meditation. She may have been very suggestible. People with his abilities can spot that, exploit it, and get you dependent on more of them or people like them.

I actually know him, he’s a great guy, brilliant even

Roy Masters is a cultist who specializes in teaching anti-Christian heresies.

Don't let that deter you, yes she may be suggestible, but then again, maybe she's not. The important thing is we need to learn how NOT to be intimidated by the left and their continued defamations against conservatives and christians by getting upset about it. That defeats us, and thats what Roy teaches and understands, nobody else seems to.

I never heard anything from the guy that is remotely anti-Christian let alone a heresy. All I’ve seen the guy do is try to use the power of the individual to find peace in themselves and see Christ via quiet meditation.

Of course, others can find such anywhere and everywhere.

Listened for a while...some notable quotes were:

“...you are all brainwashed screwed from the day you are born.”

“You cannot conquer a noble people.”

In reference to the US entering WWII and correlating it to the crisis we face today.

“There is no America to help us (USA).”

Amazing program, thank you for letting us know about it.

...without no proof to back it up [whatisthetruth]

Go to: http://www.watchman.org/cults/roymstrs.htm

Watchman says: "As a young boy he became interested in hypnotism. He added to his hypnotism techniques after studying African witchdoctor rites during his apprenticeship at South African diamond mines when he was 18."

Web site goes on to say:

"He came to America in 1949, at age 21, to lecture on diamonds. He legally changed his name to Roy Masters in 1954 (yet never acquired American citizenship) and eventually became a professional hypnotist claiming he could 'save people by teaching them self-sufficiency meditative hypnosis.'"

"The American Medical Association pressed charges against him for practicing medicine without a license. He was sentenced to 30 days in jail. He likens this 'persecution' to the persecution Jesus suffered.

"He is a self-described 'Christian mystic' combining Eastern mysticism and Gnosticism with Christian jargon, yoga, hypnotism and self-help principles."

"As with other Eastern-oriented cults, The Foundation of Human Understanding teaches that God is both personal and impersonal, advocating an almost pantheistic God.

"In lieu of dependence on Jesus Christ for salvation, Masters teaches dependence on his meditation techniques. He teaches that mankind is inherently good, thus there is no need for salvation or a savior."

"All problems man encounters can be resolved through self effort."

The Watchman Web site includes this quote from Masters:

"No form of outer assistance can substitute for inner direction. Direction must come always from within. Moved by the spirit of intuition, we move without excitement, effort or strain. The more we exercise our dependency upon the Within, the stronger this relationship becomes, and we know it to be Grace," (How To Keep Your Mind Well, p. 165, Foundation Press, 1971).

Watchman says that "though he claims to have been saved by the blood of Christ, he states that 'one of the biggest curses in Christendom is the false idea that Jesus is God."

So somebody who has taught that "Jesus is God" is a huge curse in Christendom is an (NOT the) anti-Christ -- against the Christ of the Bible.

CRI has written about Masters: At the core of Masters's sect, which was founded in 1960, is a reliance on meditation, yoga, and hypnotism mixed with many Eastern concepts. Although he claims to be a mystical Christian he rejects the central doctrine of Christianity -- Christ's death on the cross as atonement for sin. For a short time there was a dialogue between Walter Martin and Masters. CRI continues to offer a two-cassette tape of Martin debating Masters live on the "Bible Answer Man" program. http://www.iclnet.org/pub/resources/text/cri/cri-jrnl/web/crj0144a.html

That interview, where Masters claims you can't sin if you're saved, can be heard here: http://www.fhu.com/player/roy-masters-debates-walter-martin-highspeed.html

Ain't free speech great?

I will work on what you said about not being intimidated, but I don't want to follow this man because he is manipulative plus I didn't like the way he treated that blonde lady even though he may have very well been right. He confused her. It confused me, too. I thought she showed more humility than he did.

He made some comments that came across as a little misogynist , or could be taken as such, not that I'm saying I did, where he has to be smarter than his woman, NOT that he didn't make a point as I know some of the tactics of my gender plus he didn't excuse his son.

Roy doesn’t pretend to teach theology but philosophy. I’m as conservative a Bible thumper as they com

He comes across as a deprogrammer-reprogrammer. Maybe you are right about philosophy. Many/most FReepers sense or can articulate albeit in our own unique manner the same things we see.

Ain't free will great?

I don't mean to knock anyone who finds help from him. Not at all. I may listen to him again at some point or may not.

Roy doesn’t pretend to teach theology but philosophy.'

See 29. Inevitably, philosophy HAS to overlap with theology because both address worldviews. Inevitably some philosophical claims -- whether they be mild or tepid speculations, or stated in stronger manners that openly conflict with Scripture, delve into a view of man, a view of the world, and a view of God. Masters has done all of these.

Heh heh, heh it’s funny you say Roy Masters is a great American, and post on your Freeper page “I am an angry American” when I think Masters teaches that you shouldn’t be angry.

I got quite angry, then sad...now I don’t know what to do. We literally will see our freedoms melting before our very eyes.

Maybe anger is the right emotion, maybe sadness, who knows...but we are very, very screwed.

I found it interesting that we had three signs from “coincidence” about Dear Leader.

On the day he was nominated the stock market dropped 666 points. On the day he won the Chicago lottery paid paid out on the number 666, and the Month that he won (November 7) was the day Lenin took over Russia in a communist coup.

I know I'm right about philosophy as opposed to theology,as I've studied both.

I hope I can still say, perhaps, that I think for instance, that an atheist mathematician has a great mind, is brilliant even, and not be ex-communicated for it, even in Amerikka.

That being said, I can say that Mr. Masters is a heck of a nice guy, and is brilliant even

And last time I checked, people were free to have their own opinions, and other people were still free to listen to them, and agree or disagree. I didn’t say I believe all he says, but I do know him personally, he’s a heck of a guy and brilliant even. Why do you have a problem with that anyway?

The important thing is we need to learn how NOT to be intimidated by the left and their continued defamations against conservatives and christians by getting upset about it. That defeats us, and thats what Roy teaches and understands, nobody else seems to.

The Watchman Web site says Masters came to the U.S. at age 21 linked to the diamond industry but never became a U.S. citizen. Southern CA-based CRI says "Masters moved to from the Los Angeles area with many members" to the Grants Pass Oregon area.

So is that true? Did Masters never become a U.S. citizen? Did Masters start one of those many 1980s Oregon sects?

Also, here's a YouTube of wives who lost their husbands to Roy Masters' teachings -- a distorted view of marriage & sex: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=En2PsIREGAU

Well, I will try to post his Sunday conversations every week, sometimes it takes some time for people to get the gist of his principles if they ever get them at all, he also hosts a weekly radio show called Advice line.

All I can do is hope people listen in and judge for themselves, and hope they see the value in him that I see, and that is his insights in dealing with the brainwashed masses that surround us.

Taking positions against the atonement of Christ, against Jesus being God are two prominent positions that even if you personally adhere to, that I wouldn't advise you spreading wide your disagreement with.

There's a difference between somebody holding personal opinions and somebody going on 100 stations, and writing books and tracts to promote these anti-teachings.

***Roy Masters is still alive???***

My question exactly. Is he still cutting off people when they ask questions on his radio show? Is he still saying that a woman does not have to enjoy sex as he said on his radio show?

Does he stil think civilation is coming to an end?
