Obama's chief of staff choice favors compulsory universal service
Charlotte Examiner ^ | 11-6-2008 | J.D. Tuccille

Rep. Rahm Emanuel of Illinois, President-Elect Barack Obama's choice for chief of staff in his incoming administration, is co-author of a book, The Plan: Big Ideas for America, that calls for, among other things, compulsory service for all Americans ages 18 to 25

Emanuel and co-author Bruce Reed insist "this is not a draft," but go on to write of young men and women, "the nation will enlist them for three months of civilian service." They also warn, "[s]ome Republicans will squeal about individual freedom," ruling out any likelihood that they would let people opt out of universal citizen service.

Umm, he is a Jew. He was in the IDF in Israel. That may be where his ideas come from, in part. He has worked in the Clinton Administration, and has been in Congress. He has never, to my knowledge, tried to advance such a program. Perhaps while he favors such a policy, he doesn’t intend to advance a proposal.

What about the legions of black single mothers 18-25? Who will watch Shaniequa while baby-momma is picking up the litter on I-80?

This should be fought in the supreme court under the 16th amendment.

> So will most 18 - 25 Hussein voters. In fact, they could be the loudest squealers of all, not ever imagining that their messiah had this sort of thing in store for us.

And it will serve them right. As cowboyway is fond of saying “You play stupid games, you get stupid prizes.”

Fits perfectly here!

Obviously, this blithering idiot has never heard of the Thirteenth Amendment to the Constitution, which states:

Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime where of the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

oops, sorry, I meant this one:

Amendment 13 - Slavery Abolished. Ratified 12/6/1865. History

1. Neither slavery nor involuntary servitude, except as a punishment for crime whereof the party shall have been duly convicted, shall exist within the United States, or any place subject to their jurisdiction.

You’re right. It isn’t a draft. It’s indentured servitude — AKA slavery with a terminal date.

Actually, you’re wrong about that newbie.

Mao established a civilian corps that did mandatory community service. It was all part of their Communist indoctrination to serve their party and learn submissive obedience in the process.

Sound like you need to study a bit more yourself, before you let ambiguity determine your forum persona. (Look that up in the dictionary.)

“Reichsarbeitsdienst.”

Yeah — looking forward to seeing them all lined up, scrubbed and clean, all in perfectly formed military column formations, shovels in hand.

Ya think Grant Park will be America’s Reichsparteitaggelaende?
