Carl Cameron on Palin-McCain tension
http://thinkprogress.org/2008/11/05/palin-africa-continent/

Did anyone else see this segment on O'Reilly tonight? This is really bad - if it's true, McCain made a big mistake picking Palin. I know she revved up the sleeping base (folks like me), but not knowing who is in NAFTA and not understanding Afria is a continent is absurd. I am actually having a hard time believing this...but Carl Cameron is pretty trustworthy.

I saw on another thread this is coming from the ROMNEY people who were working for McCain, they don’t want her running against Romney in 4 fours.

All the conservative repubs and dems that I’ve talked say that McCain was the problem. The vast majority that I spoke with weren’t voting for McCain , they were voting against Obama. The GOP powers that be mistakenly pandered to the independent/undecided vote in their pick of John McCain, and forgot about their base. Sarah palin was the only real conservative on the ticket and McCain’s campaign contributions soared thanks to her. She was the only one on the ticket who actively sought victory for our cause.

McCain let opportunity after opportunity pass by, that he could’ve used to talk about security, energy, or immigration. Areas where he’s strong, but he gave Obama a pass on these issues and instead ran his entire campaign on Defense.

I wanna know why the hell Karl Rove didn’t pull his ass off the Fox and Friends big curvy couch long enough to help save our cause?? karl is an effin political genious as evidenced byhis play book that was stolen by the democrats.

Not only all that, but dim-bulb Caribou Barbie was actually dumb enough to give tax dollars that the State of Alaska had rightfully stolen back to the citizens!!!

What an airhead! Really sharp politicians like Barack "The Music Man" Obama and Joe "Isuzu" Biden could have told her that you grab it and blow it on booze, hookers and favors for your pals.

McCain’s camp can go to hell as far as I’M concerned.

They allowed this bs to be spread throughout the entire campaign, and continue to spread crap themselves to ruin Sarah’s political future. I don’t believe it and neither should you.

Sarah is not stupid or unaware; and I’m sick of all this garbage blaming her for McCain and the rnc’s failures.

Sarah was the only positive in this election. Anyone who thinks otherwise is misguided, mistaken, or something a whole lot worse that I won’t publish here.

I have a hard time believing that the Chair of the Interstate Oil And Gas Conservation Commission doesn't know who's in NAFTA. The Romneybots are pulling the chain again in the runup to the National Governor's Conference.

Best,

Chris

Very transparent

The American Spectator has been reporting for over a week that former Romney staffers now working for McCain have been trashing Palin. For instance

http://spectator.org/archives/2008/10/27/post-defeat-planners

This is about 2012. And I’ll bet anything that these were second-hand stories taken out of context. Someone who had to negotiate with Canada on the natural gas deal is well aware of who is in NAFTA. And a simple misunderstanding such as Palin thinking she heard “southern Africa” rather than “South Africa” could have led to the other gossip item.

But people are going to believe what they want to believe, especially those invested in smearing Palin (the MSM and supporters of empty suits like Mitt Romney).

“but Carl Cameron is pretty trustworthy”

Anyone who engages in gossip is not trustworthy.

BTW - LOL! A journalist trying to make out that somebody is "dumb".

Most journalists haven't got the brains God give gophers.

Are these the same McCain staffers who advised McCain to call Obama a good man and say that he would make a fine president? Are these the same folks who had him campaigning in PA, Iowa and NM when Florida, Ohio, NC, IN and VA were slipping away? Would these be the same guys who told McCain to let Obama define himself and blame Wall Street for the financial crisis while wasting precious air time talking about reaching across the aisle, Ted Kennedy, Russ Feingold and Tip O'neil?

You seem to be overly "concerned" about the relationship between McCain and Palin. Why?

Does anyone remember the mocking that Reagan received? There was a British comedy show that had him and Thatcher as ridiculous puppets.

She does not have the breadth of experience that Reagan had.
But that is irrelevant. The ‘not prepared’ for the office is a cannard. The VP slot never before was under this kind of scrutiny.

Don’t accept the premise of these idiots’ arguments!

they also said a staffer was “taken aback” when Sarah came out to talk to them in a bathrobe. THAT’S SARAH!! Does that seem weird to anybody else? a little nit picky?

Your Dad is right on. I have survived many starting with LBJ. When I get discouraged I watch Reagan on You Tube. It always helps.

And which candidate drew larger crowds at campaign events? Think about it: The VP nominee drew more people at campaign events than the presidential nominee. Can anyone name the last time that happened in either party?

“Blame the press for pushing Obama. They’re STILL doing it.”

It’s unreal that today November 5th the press (Fox and Olbermann and perhaps others) are still attacking her. They musst get good ratings doing it. I’m starting to think she should do the senate because it would force her to be a better speaker, it would drive the press bonkers and it keeps her more on the scene. Not that any of my points are original in any way!

McCain is using Palin as a scapegoat to blame his loss. This started already earlier.

come to think of it - right after Couric, they said they were pulling out of Michigan (was that the state?) and Sarah came out and disagreed - maybe that’s when it started. The woman has her own mind, probably smarter than all of them put together.

The “staffer” was probably pissed off that she didn’t let the robe fall....what a bunch of petty carping. This make the McCain staff look so bad. Geez, this is sad.

Sarah Palin had an impossible task. She had to defend John McCain. How many here can do that?
