Cleaning out the Republican Party

Posted on 11/05/2008 4:00:12 AM PST by fedupjohn

Did anyone see the Republican Congressman named Ryan speaking about cleaning out the Party to return to the Conservative roots for the next election? He mentioned a web site and I missed it last night. I am interested in joining him in his quest. Asking for help.

The Vanities Continue This has turned into a chat room. People have become so self important that a mere thread posting is not enough. They want to be the thread.

HEY LOOK AT ME !

Good point. I think you should start a new thread with this one!

More clearly stated, I will not impose my moral issues on you and I ask that you do not impose your moral issue on me. Like it or not, if we stick to fiscal issues we will at least have a chance to start rebuilding the GOP!

Sorry WellyP, but that dog don't hunt with me.

Moral issues are THE issues for a lot of us religious folks, and if you think you can build a pro-choice, pro-homo party without us, well go ahead and try. I will not vote for a social liberal. Period.

Plus, I just watched the far left take control of the Democratic party and win the Presidency. It's giving me ideas. Mwa ha haaa

When did the GOP or the conservative movement ever try to to impose their morality on others? But I see that social liberals are trying to impose their immorality on society and that is why social conservatives rightfully react.

A norm of social behavior must be maintained but the ultimate level of morality is up to every single person and it can not be rammed down the throats of the population as a whole. Each government should suggest good moral behavior, as they see it but if the GOP is to ever regain power we must forget trying to rule with moral authority and let each person’s sole deal moral issues. More clearly stated, I will not impose my moral issues on you and I ask that you do not impose your moral issue on me.

To what "moral issues" are you referring?

Gotta agree about Bush

When he came out with that Compassionate Conservatism BS I knew we were shoveling against the tide

He left all the Clinyonites in at DOJ and didn’t go after Voter Fraud—Sandy Burger—etc

He wouldn’t even have been elected if it wasn’t for Elian Gonzalez in 2000 and the Swift Boaters in 2004

He ran the war in Iraq with Compassion

He was a Punching Bag for the democrats

Best thing he can do now is bring all the troops home

It isn’t worth any more deaths and wounds

But to be honest with our colleges and MSM stocked with left wing nuts I guess it was only a matter of time

The country was lost when the commies took over the schools

No national has ever turned itself around once the Slippery Slope was hit

I am 72 and b ecause of the left controlling the MSM and schools I thought we would succomb to Marxism via defeat by the USSR

I was right about going Marxist but never thought it would be this way

I bet to differ, I live in Central New Jersey and the problem is that the country club tax and spend RINO'S run the party.

Anyone who is conservative is trashed by the party elites and thrown to the wayside.

The people think that if you are to vote for a tax and spend liberal, you might as well vote for the original model, a Democrat and not a inferior knockoff.

I agree with your assessment. As a retired soldier, I had not thought of one thing you said, but at this point, Obama IS going to withdraw the troops in the next two years and Iraq will fall into civil war. We might as well save as many of the brave men and women there, so I think I find myself agreeing with you, bring them home now, no need for further deaths between now and the time Obama starts to put them in jeopardy.

Keep your religion and keep your values, that is your right! We are talking about being able to win a general election and that can not be done from the extreme right. The views of the minority must be respected but if we are to ever win another election we must be realists! “Pro-choice” is States Rights issue, a local issue, if you will and not a Federal issue. As for and “Homos, I don’t want them anywhere around me but their rights to act as they wish to within their own strange little corner of society can not be legislated out of existence.

Here's my take on this thread:

fedupjohn is interested in joining or starting a grass roots effort to improve the conservative movement, and is asking fellow FReepers for guidance or help. On the home page of Free Republic, that's exactly what the owner describes this site to be about.

You, on the other hand, are merely criticizing a fellow FReeper with no offer of a solution.

fedupjohn, keep it up. I'm looking for that site in case it hasn't already been posted.

I suck at HTML but if you go to post #24 Question_Assumptions posted a link, and BTW thanks for the support, I sure need it this morning.

“I am 72 and b ecause of the left controlling the MSM and schools I thought we would succomb to Marxism via defeat by the USSR”

We should have listened to that Khrushchev fellow “Whether you like it or not, history is on our side. We will bury you ... Nikita Khrushchev, remark at the Polish embassy in Moscow, Nov. 18, 1956”.

They fouled our fields with Pueraria lobata (Kudzo), yet we did nothing, because our yields were high, even after our yields began to decline we still did nothing to root out the invasive vine. Now our fields are choked and our crops are in threatened, what shall we do?

The two major ‘moral issues’ of today have nothing to do with religious conservative s imposing their morals on others.

The homosexual agenda is seeking to impose its depraved moral standards on America by redefining marriage and pushing the acceptance and approval of sodomy on our elementary school children.

Abortion is no more a ‘moral issue’ than murder or rape. It is the destruction of an innocent life.

Ultimately, it's our fault. The sooner we realize that, the sooner we will be on the road to turning the tide on this mess......

Amen. If we really believe in the system of government designed by our Founding Fathers, then we must believe you are correct and start working to change the party...right away!

Republicans have to come up with a conservative message that resonates, McCain said he was for tax cuts, Obama said he would give tax cuts to people too. How were they different enough for the uninformed voter to choose one over the other?
Obama was black and makes noise about “change”.
That’s apparently all it takes, you don’t have to specify what type of change, just talk about how you’ll be different.

These are local issues, issues that can be won on the local level. They can not be won on the national level. We must choose our battles carefully.
