Did the choice of Sarah Palin show a strong, sober mind?

Very well said. I think it would just be so cool to send Sarah and her family, once they get back to Alaska, bunches of roses from all who supported McC BECAUSE OF HER!!! TELL HER WE LOVE HER AND DON’T FORGET US..WE WON’T FORGET HER!

Sarah Palin was the ONLY reason I voted for a scoundrel who tried to legalize an invasion of my people.

To hell with those trying to lay this at her feet. She was the only reason the election was so close.

Sarah Palin is an inspiration of morality, courage and strength. I hope she’ll come back....she’s what we need. We need redefinition. Let’s dismiss the East Coast elitists who turned on us in this election and try to work on recruiting those Midwestern “Reagan” democrats who don’t yet realize their party left them behind long ago.

Hey Starlight, I just got through watching Barack Hussein Obama’s acceptance speech. You are a disgrace to Free Republic in starting such a vanity, and you need to go shake yourself in the corner. What state are you from you POS?

Listen up, n00b.

I don't usually vote in elections, because my state is vote-frauded from the get-go.

I voted this year, because of one thing, and one thing only - Palin.

If McCain had named Romney or Huckabee, I would have stayed home.

Idiot.

I am sick to death of conservatives eating their own.
Gov. Sarah Palin was not a drain on on the ticket John McCain was.
To blame Sarah Palin is bull shit. (Yes, I use crudity, bleep me I don't care.)

Sarah Palin was not the problem. A weak candidate that was known for reaching across the aisle was the problem. Face it, without Sarah, this would have been Reagan-Mondale numbers if we were lucky. The next Republican that reaches across the aisle ought to have their arm broke. Let’s get back to Reaganomics and the Reagan Conservatism and we’ll clean house it in 2010. That is if the the Demorats don’t outlaw conservatism by then.

Was Sarah Palin the Nail in The Coffin

It seems that your question is getting you crucified. It is, however, a legitimate question and conservatives can only dismiss it at their own future electoral peril.

In conservative areas, Palin was a darling.

In liberal areas and among the majority of moderates, Palin became a laughingstock.

Unfortunately, in the United States of America in 2008, liberals and moderates together far outnumber conservatives. For the majority of American voters, faily or unfairly, Palin became a laughingstock.

I never said one word against her in the open Forum prior to the election as that would only give ammunition to the enemy. However, I did write the following opinion to another FReeper via FReepMail on 10 OCT 08 regarding the choice.

Now that the fat lady has sung, I will post it here.

=================================

I did not post this to the FR public forum as I did not want it to go public to help Obama but Palin is as strong a negative in liberal areas as she might be a positive in conservative areas.

The Palin choice has solidified the Obama vote here in Western Washington.

Palin might be conservative but, when you can’t hold your own against Katie “Colonoscopy on TV” Couric, you have serious problems in a general election.

Obama is a Democrat gimmick because he is black and liberal and Palin is a Republican gimmick because she is conservative and female but neither one deserves to be in the Oval Office.

If the choice had been a conservative like Bobby Jindal, instead of everybody wondering just what Sarah Palin studied in college and why she did not last more than one year at several colleges nobody ever heard of, our VP candidate would have looked like this:

*************

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bobby_Jindal

Following high school, Jindal enrolled, and eventually graduated from Brown University in Providence, Rhode Island, with honors in biology and public policy where he was a member of the Society of the Pacifica House. Although he had thought of a career in medicine or law and was accepted by Harvard Medical School and Yale Law School, he chose to pursue a political career. He received a master’s degree in political science from New College, Oxford, as a Rhodes Scholar.

After Oxford, he joined McKinsey & Company, a consulting firm, where he advised Fortune 500 companies.

**********

Such a man would not be caught looking like a deer in the headlights when the likes of Katie Couric asks him where he gets his news.

What I’m saying is that Palin shares our conservatives views but there are scores of regular posters on Free Republic that, as of two months ago, were much better informed about national and international events than Sarah Palin was.

In a year when America has finally been so dumbed down that it votes on the basis of gimmicks (”We are voting for Obama because he is black and clean and articulate”) McCain needed a gimmick (Pick a woman since Obama dissed Hillary!) but, unfortunately, most women don’t make life choices that prepare them for the Oval Office and no other conservative woman was a Governor.

We therefore have two people running on the tickets this year who are rather clueless: Sarah Palin and Barack Obama.

I would never post this on the open Forum and help the enemy but, in FReepMail, I can let you know what I really think.

Sarah carried McCain, the economy, and the Old Media on her superhuman back throughout the whole campaign.

I think we can safely say this question is stupid. The polls, ALL of them, had McCain up comfortably in the few weeks after the convention. What went wrong was the stock market collapse and McCain’s inability to counter it by exposing Dems. Period, end of story.

No freakin’ way!!!

SHE ALONE was the reason that McAmnesty did as WELL as he did!

ANYONE who says otherwise is either a fool or a liberal dressed in conservative clothes!

Good grief no! Did you SEE the crowds she drew? McCain’s candidacy did not have a pulse until she came on board. He was a dead duck of Bob Dole proportions. RINOs nominated McCain and Palin did all she could to make him tolerable to genuine conservatives.

Why is this vanity keyworded with “Banglist”? What does it have to do with guns?

Also, Palin is the only reason I voted for McCain. If you want to point fingers, point them at an over-saturated market for conservative candidates in the primaries that led to a divided GOP base, thus allowing McCain to sneak through with a greater number of votes and take the party nomination.
Next go around in 2012 make sure we have just one awesome Reagan conservative instead of 3 or four bad ones that split the vote of the base.
