I’m not trying to hide, you may know right up front that I am a very liberal democratic. I know of your site from DU. If your policy requires deleting this post, then it will only be a small waste of my time.
I have had a rough eight years. Not financially, I do OK. Not in personal loss, I have lost no one I know or love to either of these tragic costly wars. No, I’m not someone who can claim a direct path between my misery and W. My disdain for this president, his inner circle, Republicans on the hill and every last person responsible for the affront to ideals I hold personally important, they have cost ME little. No… Not me. I cry for those whose lives have suffered directly through these long eight years. I include most of you in that group. Most people have been directly affected by policy over the last eight years, and for most, it has been tough.
So, as we move past what I consider a blight on our nations character, I expect you to perceive the reverse to be true. I’m not going to be able to write anything to change your perception. If Obama wins, you will feel bad. You will feel left out. It is my personal hope that all us liberals that have felt so bad, crushed and left out will be able to show you something new. You will still disagree with us, I don’t expect that to change. I do expect me, and my fellow democrats to not make you feel the same despair we suffered. Change is coming. You will not like some of it. It is our responsibility to reach out to our opponents, and not make them feel ignored, dismissed, or anything like we have had to feel for eight long years.
When, if, Obama wins. I hope you can share in positive change. I hope you see direct benefits in your lives.

If you were to worry about your own life and take steps that are within your own scope of control, you will accomplish something and feel better about yourself. Bitterness never accomplishes anything.
I can almost see your glazed over eyes as you wrote this post. I think you earnestly believe what you wrote and I trust your heart in writing it. What I don’t trust is Obamas ability, or even pure intent, to make that “positive change” you speak of happen.
Your candidate has very little experience, and what he has was with the Chicago machine. In state office he voted “present” 2/3rds of the time. He has run for President almost since the time he has been a Senator, without much distinction.
That’s where the Ayers, Wright, etc, etc, associations come in. We was a “community organizer”, an activist, who actually trained ACORN people to do the illegal things they due to subvert our democratic process. An organization the Obama campaign gave $830,000 to get out the vote. If fraudulent voting is not enough, “I only wish I had [bombed] more,” is the conclusion of Ayers, for whom Obama wrote a book endorsement. This is the only history we have and it dates as late as 2003.
Today your candidate told the crowds to help him “fundamentally change” our country. The “spread the wealth around” comment to Joe the Plumber is such a “fundamental change”. When you consort with the likes of such radicals and terrorists, those words make me want to arm for battle. “Spread the wealth around” is such a fundamental change that absolutely changes the core structure of what has made this nation great. It is the Marxist premise spawning socialism and communism.
I will not be a part of Obama’s and your “positive change”. As a matter of fact, much blood has been shed on foreign soil to prevent such change from coming to this country. The Second Amendment is protection against such change. The Right to Bear Arms is NOT to protect our homes or person. It is to protect the fundamental freedoms from a centralized government that oversteps its Constitutional rights. That amendment was precisely addressing the Federalists desire to centralize power. Built into the Constitution is the right to bear arms against any despot federal government that would “fundamentally change” our country.
I do not want it to come to that, so I will not join you in your “positive change”. I will fight it until you force me to take it to the next level. When you want to “fundamentally change” our country, that is a direct threat to our way of life. While you do this very nicely and sincerely, you unknowingly are threatening America. We are NOT Europe. I do not care what the rest of the world thinks. But don’t you dare try to change the constitutional structure that has made this country great and free.

Laughable but I would expect to see the worst claims about Bush become real. Massive efforts to suppress conservative opinion, attacks on free speech, attacks on Christianity, surrender and accommodation of our enemies. All the whacky lies about Bush will be made true under this Commie Crook. National security will be the last concern, a prosperous economy will fall prey to redistribution.
