I am a Reagan Conservative. I came of age in my political thought during Reagans rise and was inspired by his faith in people and the love of our Country. I think it was Reagan who said, If people have a choice between a Democrat and a Democrat, they will always choose the Democrat. What I always took this to mean is People will always chose the candidate who held strong beliefs in core political values over the middle of the road candidate.
The choice in this election is between a Democrat and a democrat (little d intentional). It is October 28, 2008 and I do not yet know for whom I will vote. I am as mad as hell.
Obama is a Democrat to the core. He unabashedly promotes their cause. McCain is at best a moderate Democrat who calls himself a Republican. Other than security issues, McCain has shown repeatedly, he is willing to change his vote, if not his views, to appease the other side.
I believe that this nation has lost its way. Led by business people without a sense of obligation to do anything for country. People once built a business in hopes of making a product that would provide a profit and in turn profit the community and country as well. In the past corporations such as NCR, GE or GM would never have considered conducting business in a manner destructive to the community to which they belonged or the country they lived. Could you ever imagine GE doing business with any country that was considered an enemy during any previous war? That has changed. Today corporations such as GE only exist to make a buck and everything is on the table if the bottom line is improved. That is why we had companies like GE helping Iran with their nuclear program and investors betting on the failure of the housing market while setting up its ultimate failure only to make obscene amounts of money. All in the name of enriching them and the Corporations they serve but at the expense of country and honor. Factory and Auto Jobs gone to Mexico and China, but the crash and failure of those corporations is to be paid for by our taxes to now bail them out. Where is obligation and morality?
Obama or McCain will not influence in any way the path we follow with regard to moral issues. No matter what the law is. People will or will not seek out an abortion based on their own moral compass. Issues such as abortion and same sex marriage are changed in the heart of people based on their relationship with their God. Institutions and their allowances or mandates only reflect the hearts of the masses they serve. Institutions will only change when the desires of the people are influenced by personal morality. We should not waste or efforts fighting laws that allow people to make the wrong moral choice for no law will ever stop that, but rather we should demand the removal of laws that prevent or punish us for doing the right thing.
This Nations attitude concerning these moral issues are not the result of bad Government, rather the moderation of ones own beliefs to make our lives more convenient, which are then, supported by our Churches. A Church that does not rail against followers who openly support matters completely contrary to what is right and wrong or against the doctrine of their church is not a church but a weekend support group.
My dilemma. To vote for a Democrat or an in name only Republican that may crush any hope of Reagan conservatism returning.
Trollage is as trollage does....
I’m not a fan of McCain’s either, but I can stomach 4 yrs of him to get Gov Palin as the CIC. Democrats in the White House are out of the question. Pelosi, Schumer, Reid, Frank, Dodd et al are already sure of a super majority and are planning accordingly. They need to be slapped down. I pray conservatives do just that Nov 4.
True enough.
We should not waste or efforts fighting laws that allow people to make the wrong moral choice for no law will ever stop that, but rather we should demand the removal of laws that prevent or punish us for doing the right thing.
It's not a waste of time. We have an obligation to keep up the moral standards set by those who came before us and which made this country great.
Which seminary???
ROTFLMAO... I am just crackin up ovah hear!!! LMAO Dam that was funny! LOL THANK YOU!
No sense reading further. Not when the writer can't tell the truth.
IBTZ!
Looks like an ACORN worker to me.....
In contrast, McCain is slightly socialist, pro-gun, anti-abortion, and has a clue about national defense. Plus, he's got Sarah Palin and that is a huge plus.
Putting Obama in office with democRATS controlling the House and Senate would spell the end of this free nation. Your savings, 401K, and prosperity would be in jeopardy. Your freedom would be severely restricted. Your right to self-defense against tyranny, as guaranteed by the constitution, would be weakened if not eliminated. You would likely see a major economic crash instead of the partially fabricated market plunge that we're experiencing now.
Fact is, if you want to keep your job, freedom, and the potential for prosperity, you'd best vote for McCain.
I'm not surprised. He's definitely not a Reagan Conservative.
Nice of you to drop in.
Now that right there is one hell of a dilemma for a Reagan Republican. May I suggest an exorcism? Gay bar? Good old fashioned tequila drunk? Sex change?
Vote for Palin, to set her up for 2012 - 2020.
"The Palin Decade".
Pro-life.
Used to belong to Fundamentalist Church.
Pro Gun.
"Barefoot, Pregnant, and in the White House."
No Ivy League degree to get in the way of her intellect.
Mother of a special-needs child.
Hottie.
Cheers!
Organize and mobilize the last few days of your effort IN SUPPORT OF A GOOD CONSERVATIVE LOCAL OFFICIAL, OR CONGRESSMAN, OR GOP SENATOR WHO IS NOT A RINO WHO IS IN TROUBLE.
Make your energy and effort one of positive action. This is what is needed. Regardless if Osama or McLame wins, either one will have to be opposed by a solid conservative GOP in the Congress to stop liberal policies, like amnesty, that they would dabble in.
So to go 24/7 on this forum against McCain essentially does not solve anything; put your effort BEHIND somebody. For example, e mail voters in Lou Barletta's district, or contribute some funds to the guy trying to knock off Murtha.
There is something in this election for ALL conservatives; those going with McCain and those not.
