Butchering of deer closes restaurant

A Chinese restaurant in the Town of Hamburg was shut down by the Erie County Health Department Friday after an inspector found employees butchering a deer inside.
Officials don’t know whether the dead deer at China King, 5999 South Park Ave., had been hunted or if it was road kill...

The deer needs to be processed in a slaughter house. No hides, hair or hoofs in butcher shops or restaurants.

The sccop is that is was road kill and people saw him dragging the deer into the front of the restaurant, so people called the police. Not too bright of a guy.

board of health rules here downstate says that deer can not be processed where other food is processed(may be statewide). My friend who worked in a butcher shop told me the reason was because of the hair. you can legally process deer but it has to be in a separate facility.
I do it myself in my garage....yum.

I’ve had deer meat. Loved it. I’d prefer it more to steak. And I live in friggin’ New Jersey. We’ve got the damned things running around all over the state. Don’t need to hunt them, just smack into them on the Garden State Parkway or Rt. 280.
