Profanity on movie CBS showed
Posted on 10/26/2008 2:56:15 PM PDT by Sun
CBS showed the movie "Cinderella Man" at 8:00 p.m. on Oct. 25, 2008, and around 9:15 p.m., the movie showed taking the Lord's name in vein, and the Holy family, several times. This is inappropriate and should be illegal on the public's free airways. CBS could have easily cut that from what we thought was a family movie.

Gosh, I could go to the DU and find this kind of rudeness and apathy.

We’re about to elect a f*&%ing Marxist to the presidency and this is the kind of bullcrap you’re worried about?
Let me change that: WE ARE LOSING THE ELECTION BECAUSE OF YOU. PLEASE GET YOURSELF FAR AWAY FROM THE REPUBLICAN PARTY AS POSSIBLE.

I don’t think the movie industry has ever been very authentic about anything. Even less so today.

That's the reason Mrs Bear and I rarely go to the Theater. I am still waiting for a chance to see “An American Carol,” but I dread that when I see it I'll walk out due to a “Rev Wrightism.”
It was bad enough when was just the premium channels, now the networks have no standards. A few years ago, my wife and I got rid of every movie, cd and book that blasphemes God's name.
Ignore the detractors, I'm glad I'm not the only one who takes this stand.

God works through His People, and the Bible says we are to warn others.
No argument there.
If they dont listen, its not our fault, but it is our job to tell them they are wrong.
Again, I agree with you.
Does it not bother you that they go out of their way to NOT offend Islam, but often intentionally offend Christians?
It bothers me the same way a stray mutt crapping on my front lawn bothers me. The mutt is just doing what mutts do, just as the anti-Christian media does what it is compelled to do.
But the mutt can plead ignorance, the media for the most part will be consigned to Hell because they did know better.
And I'm perfectly OK with that.

Most televisions allow you to change the channel if you disapprove of the program.
I think this approach is the most effective.
I'm sure Dunkin' Donuts knew exactly what was in the film (which is good aside from the portrayal of Max Baer).

If it were a government created and funded network (which I don’t think should exist e.g. PBS, NPR), then I would agree. If everyone’s taxes are paying for something, it shouldn’t go advocate things the taxpayers disagree with. But CBS is a business, so we should just leave it to the free market. If the viewers don’t like what they televise, they’ll lose money and stop showing it. I think it’s fine to consider some language immoral, but unless something directly hurts someone else (physically or financially), the federal government has no right to outlaw it. Like I said, if the Supreme Court allowed the Constitution to be interpreted correctly, then the states could make restrictions if they want to, and I’d be fine with that, but you can’t have a federal ban on inappropriate language and follow the Constitution at the same time. Morality is important, but it’s just as important that morality be left up to the Americans themselves and not the government.

I loved “Cinderella Man”. It was about a strong man who worked hard to provide for his family. He sacrificed and worked hard so his family could live a decent life. Sure it had a couple of curse words but when you compare this to the smut on other channels like Hugh Hefner’s show or Rock of Love, Cinderella Man is Bugs Bunny.
