Once done, all his BS is accepted without any kind of resistance and leaves the crowds yelling “More! More!”

Jones and several members argued that the group should commit "revolutionary suicide" by drinking cyanide-laced grape flavored Flavor Aid (often misidentified as Kool-Aid) along with a sedative.[39]

One member, Christine Miller, dissents toward the beginning of the tape.[39] When members apparently cried, Jones counseled "Stop this hysterics. This is not the way for people who are Socialists or Communists to die. No way for us to die. We must die with some dignity."[39] Jones can be heard saying, "Don't be afraid to die" and, regarding death as "just stepping over into another plane" and that "[death is] a friend."[39] At the end of the tape, Jones concludes: "We didn't commit suicide, we committed an act of revolutionary suicide protesting the conditions of an inhumane world."[39] Children were given the drink first and families were told to lie down together. The mass suicide had been discussed in simulated events called "White Nights" on a regular basis, while members drank liquid Jones first told them was poison during at least one of those White Nights.

The History channel had a program on Saturday night 11p-midnight EDT on detecting deception. They actually had clips of Obama and McCain. They said that Obama’s speech was a type of hypnotic speech. In fact, it was mentioned that after the speech you probably wouldn't remember WHAT was said but you would feel energized and excited by it. Amazing.

When I first heard of this tie-in to 0bam's oration, I was skeptical. But after reading this article, my skepticism has lessened.

At minimum, I would attribute this technique to twenty years of listening to Rev. Wright, as this technique is fairly common in the style of black Preachers.

At worse, this could be evidence that 0bama has been carefully groomed...by parties...suspected, but not proved.

Tony Robbins was trained in NLP and hire by the Clinton White House to train his staff ...

this is old technology that is available to the republicans if they so desire ...

it is unfortunate that the word "hyposis" is associated with the techniques because it is really quite different and many in the public have a nasty reaction to the word.

Bottom line:

It uses suggestion that is designed -- thorough various techniques -- to bypass the critical faculties of the mind and speak directly to the non-critical subconscious part of the mind: where the 'embedded' suggestion may then take root.

It would be analogous to 'flying below the radar' in order to successfully reach a target.

This is why I’m concerned everytime Obama has one-on-one and/or closed-door meetings with people, and also why I’m apprehensive about his airtime on the 29th. There’s already too much evidence of people being “persuaded” by him, in their attitude and allegiance, and even their speech.

Someone needs to rewrite this as more an academic sounding versus conspiratorial sounding paper- it will hit undecided voters better. This paper is too long, too repetitive.

Ditto, this should be rewritten as a one or two page piece, starting out very generic, such as the use of NLP in politics and examples of how NLP can manipulate the listeners. All the examples and quotes should be of Obama or quoting Lakoff, let the reader make the connection. Also, NLP language techniques should be used in the paper. Fight fire with fire.

I agree that NLP has been around a while. The techniques can be useful to encourage agreement and to put people at ease. Unfortunately, they can also be misused.
