That's still around the time of day when high flying objects can momentarily catch the sun's light and reflect it brightly back to you. Angle of incidence = angle of reflection. My best guesses based on years of astronomical observation is that the objects were either airplanes (headlights or late-day reflections) or balloons. :)
Sorry about the Venus thing. That obviously wasn't what you saw since, as you reminded, the (two) objects you saw were in the east. Anyway, at least I alerted others who may not have known that Venus is currently a very bright evening object in the western sky just after sunset.
Just wanted to clarify, I meant to put that dopey smile sign “:)” after the second paragraph, not the first. In other words, I wasn’t trying to mock you about the sightings.
