I own a S&W 357 (Long, freakin' barreled handgun) that can not be carried around at all, it's too long. I got it from my grandfather, when he passed!
I own a Walther PPK, I sold my P99 recently. But I decided to go in to a dealer today, just to see something new with some more stopping power than the PPK. They tried to sell me on a Glock 19 (which I liked alot actually). I went and shot it, in the shooting range, and I would like to get your honest opinion on that gun!
I want something with some stopping power, than a PPK. I know the PPK will not give me the stopping power I need, so I will ask you, and hope you can give me some honest responses on a Glock 19. What do you think?

I prefer a Glock 20.
It’s *OK* for carry, and is chambered for .40 cal, which is a good balance between 9mm and a .45.
Mine also fit my hand well.
Laser dot “fixes” a lot of guns.
It might, depending on shot placement and good hollow point ammo. A .380 can pack a punch.
I have a PPK/S (West German made), and other than the crappy trigger it's a fine pistol.
Check out the Kahr K9 9mm for a concealed carry piece. ....or one of their lighter polymer offerings.
19 is a full size weapon and I would not want for CCW.
Get a glock model 23 or 30.
23 is med size 40 s&w
30 is med size 45
The 23 is hands down a great weapon that is easy to conceal especially with an ultimate conceal carry holster.
If you trust your life to a 9mm....
I like my M23. .40SW cal.

What do you think about the lack of a safety on the Glock? Is that an issue in your opinion?
I recently bought an Smith&Wessen M&P .40 and I love, love, love it!
Feels much better in my big hands than a Glock.

My advice for concealed carry is the largest caliber weapon in the smallest possible package you can shoot comfortably and confidently. If the Glock 19 fits that description for you, it’s perfect. If not, keep looking around.
Here is my totally biased answer, since every gun enthusiast is totally biased—why hide that fact?
I got my CHL to carry within the last two years and bought my first handgun. Now I own a few (as always happens once you start).
I qualified with a Glock 19. It was okay. Tried another one at the range. Did not like it at all. Just did not feel right.
They have the reputation for reliability. Downside for me is the lack of manual safety. Others will have their own preferences.
I go with HK 9mm or Sig. I have an HK 9mm. Holds 10 rounds. I have a Sig P220 (.45 cal.) Great gun also.
For stopping power I recommend a 9mm or higher. .40 seems to be a popular caliber with police. Never shot one.
Can’t beat a .45 for stopping power. The number of rounds you can carry might be an issue. If a .45 then a smaller frame would be appropriate for carry purposes which would reduce the number of rounds even more.
I’ve never heard of a Kahr K9 (at this point), but I will deinitely look in to it.
It’s a good firearm, but I prefer the Sig Sauer P250.

No, not anymore. It's been updated by the Springfield Armory XD. Since you're concerned about stopping power, look for one in .40 S&W.
One of my pistols is a G35, which is the .40 cal with a long barrel. It's not my favorite gun since I don't like the feel of the trigger on a Glock. I can't complain about the accuracy of it though. I'm a better shot with my Glock than I am with my Kimber .45 (which really annoys me).
GLOCK 20 is 10mm. It is not between the 9mm and 45 but above them both in power.
wish you had kept the P99. I have both the glock and the P99 and like them both, but the glock wins out only because of the cost of extra magazines.
The P99 and the glock are equal in reliability and accuracy...my walther is in 9mm, rather than 40 cal.
My bedside pistols are a J frame smith and wesson 38 snubby and the glock 19 loaded with 127 gr +P+ speer lawman ammo.
I guess Im saying that either auto will do you fine, but the glock wins out only because of extra mag costs.
It is an issue with me. A wise man[Cooper] said putting the safety on the trigger is like putting the combination to your safe just above the dial.
Glock is a good gun. Is this for carry? Go to a range where they let you try them out.
How big are you? If you are a female you may want to be concerned about kick or recoil. I would read all the NRA stories on how citizens stopped bad guys. A lot of examples had bad guys getting snuffed with .22’s.
.40s and .45s are nice but easy to handle, shot placement and reliability are important. I have an old Ruger 9 mm. Not pretty but as accurate as a Glock but not as accurante as a Beretta 92. Still the Ruger is reliable as rain and will never misfire even on crappy ammo. I do not use crappy ammo but the Ruger always works.
Make sure to stock up before the end of this month.
