Am I seeing things through rose-colored glasses?

Posted on 10/09/2008 7:59:50 AM PDT by Osama Obama

Politico is reporting the Dems are expecting an Obama landslide. Some of the talk radio shows (Brian and the Judge for example) are speaking in terms of what McCain should have done, etc. Right slanting pundits are hinting at waving the white flag. Am I missing something?

What I see is a stock market lunge today along with some new economic optimism. I see tightening national polling which almost always preceeds the same movement in the individual swing states. The internals of these polls (which are always weighted heavily Democratic) show that McCain is actually doing better than Obama with those identified as "independent" (for example a recent poll was weighted 6% Dem heavy, but McCain was only 4% behind--if the poll was evenly weighted, McCain is ahead by 2). Our base is just as motivated as theirs (as long as we're not disheartened by the doom and gloomers).

Guys-- this is FAR from over. Not even close. Am I seeing it from rose-colored glasses?

Thr truth is, no one knows...but if I were a betting man, and the election was held today, I’d say the ObaMessiah would win...we have 3 weeks and polls can shift 5-7 points in that time...

Internals on these polls show that they are heavily weighted DEM. I believe they are ultimately overweighting blacks, which also means they are over-representing intensity of approval among Democrats.

It’s also impossible to pre-gauge the impact of the big ole collective gut-check that is going to occur when Americans actually go to the polls.

It won’t be racism that undoes Barack Obama, it will be the fact that, when it comes right down to it, it’s scary to vote for inexperience, the unknown and the potentially radical.

Look at past elections where the polls didn’t pan out.

A day or two away from election day, the pollsters finally care about being able to claim their accuracy once the election is done.

I honestly think a lot of people will just not be able to bring themselves to vote for someone named Barack Hussein Obama. I don’t think that is racist, either. It has to do with the threats against us from certain corners of the world.

Here’s my rant from another thread on the ACTUAL DANGER in wallowing in all this doom, gloom and whiney defeatism-—especially when the game is far from over.

I take comfort in the memory of a drunken Susan Estritch on Election Night 2004 after seeing ther race conceded to President Bush.

I have to wonder also if there were the tremendous enthusiasm and intensity out there we are told 0bama has, why has early voting apparently NOT produced huge numbers of people turning out?

The Main Stream Media has all but called this for the annointed one. However, their tactic's have always been pure propoganda and disinformation. What we've been hearing since the last debate is the MSM shifting into the next gear, which is to tell American's that it's just about over, and, that if you are voting for John McCain, you will be on the losing side of history.

My one reference point is - if all of this were true - why are they still hammering Sarah as though she were a threat? Answer: Because she is. And they are afraid.

This aint over by a long shot - just keep your eye on our goal and work toward that end.

The scary thing is that they may not be overweighting blacks, but merely adding in the legions of the voting dead who will rise to vote for the Obamassiah.

I think the story on Nov. 5 will be that Zero was a hugh invention of the liberal media, and that his support was vey over-estimated.

In Chicago, we say that you should vote Republican while you’re a live, because you can always vote Democrat when you’re dead.

As you say, the polls are overweight on Democrats. Now suppose that it’s equally likely they will poll a Democrat who is an ex-Hillary supporter (aka an Obama-hating PUMA) who would be happy to lie and say they’re supporting Obama just to send a false message and make Obama become overconfident and make bad campaign decisions.

As much anger as the rejection of Hillary caused in the Democrat party, I suspect this is affecting the poll results in ways we don’t yet know.

I think you are. If the election were held today, O would win FL, VA, NC and McCain would concede around 8pm EST.

The National Review is whining the same way too. It is total nonsense.

I am telling people - many Hillary voters are going to vote McCain. McCain is going to win if our owns pundits stop trying to supress our votes.

The Demo candidate for President is an ACORN member and past attorney.

McCain-Palin need to tell America that Fannie & Freddie caused this financial disaster with ACRON and CRA.

Tell America that Obama’s economic supporters headed Fannie, looted it and caused it’s implosion along with the efffing GLOBAL financial system.

This disaster has been caused by socialism. Imploding Michigan and CallieForneehah is Obama’s blueprint for America which includes open borders.

Volunteer and donate.

“........the legions of the voting dead who will rise to vote for the Obamassiah.”

Yeah I can see it now, “Night Of The Living Dead Voters” an Ozombie nightmare.

They rise from their graves chanting “ballots......ballots..we need ballots....”

I agree that if the election were today, Obama would probably win. My point is that signs are pointing in a more positive direction (except maybe on today's market, but the day's still young) and it's not over and certainly not as dire for us as the left would have us believe.
