Saturday Night Live (Tina Fey...)

Watching the obligatory skit (a replay of the VP debate).

They are dogging out both candidates equally.

Actually, the opening skit is pretty good.

I can’t believe SNL is going after the DEMS. I had to do a double-take when they mentioned that it was the Republicans who tried to fix the problem (but the Dems blocked the investigations/reforms).

They also mentioned the list of dim-witted house buyers who made this problem worse!!!

I guess SNL is gearing up in case Obama and the Dems take over completely.

Lorne Michaels must have lost a bundle in the markets recently.

I didn’t see the opening (will catch on Youtube later) but the skit just now absolutely laid low the characters that need to be laid low, Frank and Pelosi, while accurately characterizing Bush as disinterested go along. The truth is Bush gave in on the domestic to win votes for the wars we fought during his terms. But SNL nails it perfectly on the bailout news conference.

I actually heard Sarah say Obiden in the debates. Twice as I recall. Ever so slightly did I hear the O.

They got that skit all wrong. Barney Frank doesn’t have teeth.

The interview about her sexual practices was proven to be fake, actually.

Sure, but did she call either Osama? (And yes, I was hoping for it...)

That was Queen Latifah playing Gwen Ifill. I had to look twice to make sure Gwen wasn’t playing herself. The skit showed Ifill SO in the tank for Obama and eager to sell her book.

They slayed me with the imitation of Biden, down to the gleaming teeth and the earnest dissing of Scranton and Wilmington.

I don’t think the Palin imitation did her any harm.

They just slipped in some real dirty jokes. The one about landing a plane on the Island of Lesbos was a zinger.

If she said it, let it be so. His name is now Obiden.

Just saw the opening skit. I don't know what you guys are talking about. I thought it was stupid. Not even funny. So far the only Tina Fey as Palin skit I thought was funny was the very first one (the Hillary Clinton/Palin press conference skit).

This was not even-handed at all. It was much harsher toward Palin than Biden or Ifill. They delight in tearing this woman down, and frankly, I find the whole thing ugly. Politics and the public sphere has sunk lower than ever.

I don't see why any woman would want to run for office -- certainly no conservative pro-life woman would want to. Only the most ruthlessly ambitious person with a near sociopathic lack of shame would want to put herself through the humiliation of being mocked relentlessly and having her private life dissected by the press.

I do have to say that the bailout SNL skit was funny. The yuppie speculators cracked me up (as well as the Soros character).

But I agree with Geraldine Ferraro, who told Brian Williams on Thursday that she would like it if SNL would lay off Palin for a change. Just leave the lady alone.

I’ve given up on SNL the last two weeks and stopped watching after 30-years. Maybe for good. Fey has decided she personally is going to rip Palin down.

The show’s writing has slipped terribly the last five years as it has become the Fey (yes, I know she’s now left) and Poehler skit hour. I don’t think either are any good as writers or performers.

People talk about the old old days of Murray, Belushi, etc. I’d settle for Will Ferrell, Horatio Sanz and Jimmy Fallon.
