I sure didn’t know you could change the puzzle to 6 pieces. A 3 year old could do that.....(maybe I can). I was working on one this morning and wanted to get back to FR and of course lost what I had done. I sorta like to do it the harder way, don’t you?

What about your son and the fires I keep seeing on t.v.?

Sound Barrier Broken

The Bell X-1 "Glamorous Glennis"
in Washington's National Air & Space Museum

The first flight at faster than the speed of sound occurred
on 14 October 1947. The aircraft was the Bell X-1 and the
pilot was Captain Charles Yeager.

Technically the speed of sound had probably been broken
before that by several Second World War aircraft. Some
British and American fighters may have unintentionally
exceeded the speed of sound in an evasive dive and there
are unconfirmed reports that the German Me 262 jet
fighter managed to break the sound barrier.

So beautiful, Billie! I could read the lovely poetry but my picture just now loaded! It was worth the wait! Thanks for its loveliness!

Thank you, jaycee. Don't know why the graphic took so long to open, but I thank you. Hope you listened to the music. :)

Thanks for checking my posts, (((Jaycee))). That’s why I like the bulletin board format of the forum; it isn’t necessary to be online at the same time, like a chat room. We can mosey in anytime and pick up the thread. Hope you are having a great Tuesday; mine is super-busy.

LOL I could probably deal with being bald rather than all those sequin thingies stuck to my skin! Shudder. I can’t even stand fingernail polish!

Ever been to Wright Patterson AFB in Ohio? Truly cool place. Lots of history and planes!

Ah, the Iron Man competition, so dear to my heart:-)
I missed it again this year, as I was watching the DODGER GAME....!:-(

Dave, am I the only one wondering why Joe Torre kept yanking the pitchers? I guess Game 2 made him nervous.

I am also watching the progress of brush fires containment. So sad, as always. You probably get more of the smoke over your way, Polly....

Good morning Amy's Place!

Howard, Andrew R., Covered Bridges of Connecticut, a guide, The Village Press, Unionville, Connecticut, 1985.

THE CORNWALL COVERED BRIDGE

I'm just a covered bridge that's all;
For years in this place I've stood;
Can some wish for my downfall,
Because I'm made of wood!
I've seen the years both come and go;
I've spanned this stream for years
I've stood the test of rain and snow;
I've helped both those in smiles and tears.
And now some ask to take me down,
And some to keep me here;
I don't belong to any town
But to those who hold me dear.

Great to hear from ya, Dita! Yes, its good to get on here when you can and just glance around if you only have time for that. I often wonder why all days are so very busy!

Have a wonderful (even if it is busy) day!

Oh, Billie, how wonderful to remember Chuck Yeager’s great accomplishment of breaking the sound barrier....61 years ago!!

Gen. Yeager is a great American, and actively campaigning for the Republican ticket. He appeared recently at one of Sarah Palin’s rallies.

Chuck is the kind of guy that makes this nation so great and strong.

I know we don’t thank people for “thank you’s” but I do. That is one of the prettiest I’ve seen and I noticed the other one to G.B. is very pretty! I will keep looking around and see what we’re celebrating, including Alaska!

As it so happens, my cousin’s wife sent some memorabilia from my cousin’s service in WWII just this past week. I believe he served around the time of D-Day.

Being a post-war baby, the 1952 presidential race was the first one I recall....

Beautiful image, Meg:), thank you.

And the poem is lovely. I used to have a book of English translations of Chinese poetry that I treasured... not sure if I still have. Many of the poems were very poignant.

I had better get offline and on to other things now. Take care, everyone, and enjoy the day!!
