McCain comes on FOX News cable this morning, about 30 minutes ago, and throws the election away. All he had to do was say that he is with the American people, that the American people had concerns with this bill and he is with the American people and understands why.
All he had to do was say he is working for the American people and not politicians who create the problems and then want to be the same politicians who want to be in charge with fixing the problem.
That this bill didnt have the real reform we needed, that he will now do everything he can to work for the American people to come up with a plan that has real reform.
No one is saying there should be no plan at all. And he should have said as much. That what we need now is a plan with real reform.
Yet, despite mistakes that he already has made, and said, he actually was handed the opportunity to side with the American people and to win the election, to let Palin have the opportunity to go with the message on Thursday that the McCain-Palin ticket is for reform, and that reform means that the failed plan wasnt good enough and that this ticket will be on the side of the American people for a better way, a better plan, for real reform, and this ticket will work with the American people.
Instead he came out, he stated he supported the plan that failed and that he still supports the plan that failed.
He made no mention of the need for a better plan. And worse, he made no mention of the feelings of the American people. He forgot to even mention the word. The FOX anchor had to remind him.
And when asked directly about the fact that the American people were not supporting the current plan, he went into the line about how he went to Washington to get everyone to pass the plan.
And then, when was asked directly the obvious follow up to the question - the fact that, yes, he went to Washington to get everyone to pass the plan that the American people did not want, and it failed (and thus he failed) - he responded that he did not get enough Republicans and Democrats to support this plan that failed.
And so he in as much told everyone he is a failure and that he is just another Bush.
McCain is now Bush.
Obama is now going to become the leader on this issue in the eyes of the American people. Obama is for the American people, and McCain is Bush.
Congratulations President Obama.
We still have 34 days until election day.... Way too much water still available to go under the bridge to make such a drastic claim as you’ve made. If you truly support McCain-Palin as you claim on your homepage then you’ll help get them elected as opposed to fueling sentiments against them.
I think you are whistling past the graveyard. With a compliant MSM, there is no way that McCain/Palin can turn this into an Obama liability, unless Pelosi moves forward with a more leftist piece of legislation.
G'mornin to you!
McCain is a big government guy who has always reserved his venom for conservatives not the Bolshicrats who he crawls across the aisle to stroke whenever he can. My polling place is only two blocks away. McCain should thank his lucky stars it isn’t three blocks.
Cut the drama. We are all free to post our opinions...we just don't need a separate thread for each one.
“Of course we all want McCain to win but God helps those who help themselves.
McCain has been asleep since Friday night and refuses to add anything new to the dialogue. His apparent determination to stand by the failed bill with no enhancements is political disaster.”
So repeating this on a thread is going to do what? If you don’t like the guy or don’t think God likes him for not “helping himself”, don’t vote for him. You’re not changing my mind. I’ll be working the GOTV here in MN. Let’s just wait until election day to see how this all goes - ok mwl8787??
McCain said "We will pass legislation because we have to pass legislation." What in hell does that mean? It means he cannot articulate a coherent message on what kind of legislation and how to craft it. He is listening to that staunch conservative, now retired, Senator Danforth......half-baked, nice person, gets along well with Kennedy, Pelosi, Reid,...kumabya....If this keeps up, it won't even be close.
That makes absolutely no sense.
“What happened? Cavuto didn’t see this coming, didn’t protect his assets? LOL, oh ya, he’s he expert alright on money management. He didn’t believe those who were warning about Fannie and Freddie? Well I’ll be darned, Experts, go figure ...”
LOL....my thoughts exactly. The media keep telling us they are the people’s watchdogs?! They’re as complicit in this as Dodd and Barney.
You can post your opinions....but vanity posts are ridiculous.
Back at ya!
Isn't Palin in RINO REHAB out in Sedona this week? You know, go in as a conservative, come out as a RINO
I guess one of the 5 members of the “Just say No to Juan McLame” ping list didn’t like what I said and went crying to the mods. “Boo Hoo Moderator...Artemis Webb found out that there are only 5 of us who ever participate and it’s NOT FAIRRRRRRRRRR...WHAAAAAAAAAA.”
YOU FORGOT THE BARF ALERT!
Who needs the MSM? Freeper Vanities are worse!
I’m sorry I did not see the interview. But to suggest that McCain would NOT do what this FReeper says is to as for a willing suspension of belief. McCain is an idiot. He has no clue on how to win the election or how to fix the problems in the markets.
He is an idiot and should be talking to CONSERVATIVES including Newt, Kudlow, etc.
This is going to be a painful mess but there are plenty of solutions and the Dems are playing low-ball. Mac needs to get a clue.
I saw the interview and also had to take a double take. did he just say what I thought he said? He went on to say that America also did not agree with the surge and he voted for it because it was the best thing for the country. He then said that this bail out is also best for the country right now. It almost seemed like he was saying the American people are too stupid to understand this and it needs to be done despite what we want. I am still voting for the clown because of Sarah and can’t imagine McCain making it through a second term.
GO SARAH!!!! LET SARAH BE SARAH!!!!
Dude - McCain was always Bush-esque. Most on FR never supported him during the primaries. Now he’s a bitter pill that we need to swallow in the general election.
No surprise. IMO, McCainiacs and McCain are a Bushbots. He could also renounce his support for amnesty...but no...he says he would still sign S2611 (Comprehensive immigration reform/amnesty) once the borders are secured.
LMAO.....who are YOU calling a troll?

We can only hope Gov. Palin pulls his, ummmm, chestnuts out of the fire. McCain is who he is. On the other hand, he picked Palin. She is who will be carrying the standard after he gets a term as president—assuming he does.
If Palin was not on the ticket I would be voting for any conservative candidate I could find or writting in my name.
If McCain tries to put a muzzle on Palin against Biden I think it will be all over except the internment of his candidacy.
