Have House Republicans stepped into a Democrat trap?

Posted on 09/29/2008 7:39:35 PM PDT by robert david

It is my belief that Republicans in the House have committed a major blunder by voting against today's bailout plan. They have given the Democrats a very large club to batter them with over the next six weeks before the election as the stock market crashes and the economy goes into a tailspin. It is my fear that this will lead to a Democrat landslide in the House and Senate and may even cost John McCain the presidency as Democrats and their big media cohorts blame the Republicans for the crisis.

Republican Representatives should have heeded the words of their leadership under President George Bush and Senator John McCain instead of caving to pressure from their constituents on a subject they do not fully comprehend.Today is a perfect example why the Founders of this country instituted a representative democracy instead of a direct democracy.

The failure of Congress to pass this emergency plan will also be used by the Democrats to paint a picture of Senator McCain and the President as men who are incapable of providing the leadership required to pass even the most important of legislation.

There may not be any way to save the skin of Republicans in the House who are up for reelection, but if we act now and urge our Congressman to support comprehensive economic reform, we may be able to insure the election of John McCain. Anything less, and we could very well be witnessing an Obama presidency, something our country may never recover from.

God, save our country.

“Now we are on defense, and we will continue to be until election day unless McCain brings a gun to this knife fight.”

Juan only brings a gun when he’s fighting Conservatives.

“After McCain’s pitiful statement today after the vote, I am rapidly losing faith in his ability to speak for me, my party and my beliefs.”

Losing your cherry can be painful.

Does he ever fight anyone else...like perhaps the liberal Democrats?

Always good to hear from our betters.

Say howdy to the GOP "leadership."

Tell 'em the people haven't even begun to get riled at them yet...

No.

The answer is no.

Now, is that in reference to domestic oil supplies or is that just an invitation to Barney Frank?

Put no faith in Juan McCain't. The betrayer will betray again. It is in his nature.

IF the market crashes, and that is still a big IF, the Dems and the RINOs will all be looking to the Conservatives for solace- NO ONE will be getting reelected without fixing the problem, that is the truth of it.

Now, the Dems may go ahead and pass the 700B with all their bells and whistles- without the House Conservatives- and it will go sailing through the RINOs in the Senate and the RINO in Chief; And the ONE and the RINO of the Promise will both claim to be the heir... But the market ate a trillion dollars in one day- what do you really think 700B is going to do?

What will fix this is a principled CONSERVATIVE approach, as the House Conservatives offer, and ultimately, to let the market adjust itself.

Whatever we do is prolonging and deepening the agony... The market WILL adjust, come what may, and at some point we will be powerless, but to do nothing, and let it happen. That, in a nutshell, is free market lesson number one.

The cover Nancy Pelosi tried to give some of her democrat members is revelatory of the decietfulness which is the democrta party modus operendi. Thinking that she had hoodwinked enough Republicans to vote for the socialist monster, she made the astonishing mistake of then speechifying prior to the vote!

The deceiving democrat leaders know that conservative values are still the majority in America--for now, but the media is still hoping to put communism over the top within this generation.

The democrats tried to scam the American people by giving some of the democrat members the chance to vote no and blame the paasage of the bill on Republicans. Voters in the districts of those deceiving democrats should pay attention and vote those liars out.

Sadly, the reason those liars are in offcie to start with is because the voters in those districts appear to like being lied to and deceived and manipulated. Republicnas that voted 'no' did so because of conservative principles.

Democrat who voted 'no' mostly did so because the special interest socialist/commie programs like ACORN were pulled from the dole flaoted in the original incarnation of the Paulson bill.

Nancy Pelosi and her democrat leadership were trying to pass a socialism bill but pretend the democrats were against it. They didn't give a damn about the effects upon the American people because the democrats want a Republic to fail to be replaced with the democrat socialist rule.

Will the voting adults of Ameirca get it? ... The democrat media whoredom will work overtime now to prevent Americans from seeing the truth of this historic vote in Congress. Their excuse will be that the reasons for voting against were simplistic with Republicans, but many and varied with the democrats, thus too complex to examine in network programming.

90% of the public opposed it!

The "public" is pretty ignorant when it comes to economic matters and quite fickle.

You don't think they can change from "we oppose it" to "why didn't you do something?" when they start to feel the effects in a couple weeks?

And then the democrats will come to the rescue with their ACORN gift package passed by a party line vote and look like hero statesmen.

In other words, the bill most of us hate will be replaced by the bill we despised, and we’ll STILL end up looking like the bad guys who acted irresponsibly and gave away Hundreds of Billions to corporate fat cats.

Yep.

“You have no sense of pragmatism about you.”

The Republic is drowning in an ocean of socialist pragmatism.

Bailing out the banksters will destroy what’s left of the dollar. This is FAR worse than losing our 401k’s, although I suspect a bailout would eventually result in the death of the dollar AND the destruction of our retirement plans. The bailout is correctly viewed by real conservatives as crony capitalism, fraud, larceny, racketeering, etc. besides being blatantly unconstitutional.

I don’t think you understand the depth of anger that conservatives feel about this issue. We will not stand aside as the DC-Wall Street criminal syndicate robs the poor, the middle class, our children, our grandchildren etc.

So go peddle your goods elsewhere.

You really don’t believe in the 1st amendment do you?

No one is allowed to speak unless they agree with you. A most anti-American sentiment.

Curious from whence you came. Russia, North Korea? Are you even an American citizen? I’m thinking not, I’m thinking you don’t understand our American freedoms at all.

To suggest that the Government even has some semblance of control over the economy is sheer idiocy.

exactly....and meanwhile the algoreacle is convinced the government can control weather.
