He’s kinda tied his hands though, by implicitly stating he supports the bill during Friday’s debate. If he had just kept silent, this course of action could have been much more feasible.

We will lose. McCain has decided to go the Bush route of trying to be “bi-partisan” and “change the tone.” After all, if we actually try to win the election, Katie Couric might call us racists!

Republican elites would rather lose power than have the media say they aren’t being nice. They are weenies.

No problem. Jack Bauer can save the world in only 24 hours, so 48 should be plenty of time for McCain.

Sorry. He can't say he was for it before he was against it. He can admit the American people have rejected today's bill and he can propose an improved model without fault.

If he makes a bold move like you propose; he should acknowledge the old bill's weaknesses and address them. He has to offer something better.

It's damned near impossible to win a national election when the media is in the tank for your opponent. McCain's team has lost focus on message and there is very little for people to get excited about here. Whatever message he does get out isn't being picked up on.

How in the hell is Obama getting people to swing to him on the economy?

Let's all be honest here. If Obama had to go up against Romney in an economics debate how could he possibly wind up looking any better than a moron?

Republicans wanted the perfect candidate and instead wound up with the guy they wanted only slightly more that Guliani.

If they (Republicans-McCain) aren’t going to support the bill, then they really do need to explain why. Otherwise, they are just seen as obstructionists.

Oh piff. Get a grip. Quit panicking. An old timer like yourself have seen these tactics a dozen times.

We're not going to die, frankly, after the market drops another 20% or so, we have great buying opportunities. Don't buy into this "sky is falling" BS. It plays straight into the dem/commies plans.

I strongly disagree. There is no such time table because this thing is going to destroy the DNC majority in Congress. They have weeks to toy with their prey before they eat it.

The soundbites played by Sean Hannity on his show today are damning evidence of Democrats blocking reform of Fannie Mae all along the way. Even had one of Schumer, I think, calling the whole effort by Republican Senators as "a public lynching of Frank Raines."

On that note, heres something interesing I found about Frank Raines. I think this was just back in April.

THIS IS A HUGE SCANDAL PEOPLE! IT WILL DESTROY DNC!

Sorry about the caps!

McCain has about 48 hours to fix his campaign...Everyone knows what he needs to do – he needs to come out and say that he is against the plan

He's already on record supporting the bail-out plan. This is the kind of huge, comprehensive, solve-that-domestic-problem legislative effort that McCain favors, like campaign-finance reform or immigration reform.

Senator McCain has many admirable qualities but he is disconcertingly comfortable with big-government solutions.

McCain had a golden opportunity. He charged to Washington, but instead of backing the conservative approach, he promptly joined hands with Pelosi and got kicked in the teeth for his trouble. He is letting Obama win by default.

I agree, his best chance now is to say, The people have spoken and we need to go with the conservative “non-bail out” insurance based approach and then he needs to actually watch the “burning down the house” video, since to hear him talk you would never know he was trying to reform this mess three years ago and that the democrats who created the monster blocked him at every turn.

Golden opportunity and Mr. Milktoast is blowing it.

Did someone say Obama denoucned communsim? I ran into a neighbor today, can’t repeat what he said, it was rough, life long Democrat, he is not voting Obama, his family is not voting Obama, they hate Bush bad ... Shocked me.

I don’t see that McCain’s message is off track. Obama was already in the chair being hoisted on the Democrats shoulders, then the bill failed. The notion that Democrats gain when the economy tanks is a myth.

The notion that Morris is right about anything, is another myth.

Set Sarah-cuda free ... Energy runs the economy and energy will make things right.
