The Coming Second Civil War
quesney | quesney

Posted on 09/26/2008 1:08:20 PM PDT by quesney

Folks, A profound schism in American society has been exposed and laid bare over the following years — since 9/11, through the events of Iraq to the monstrously socialist bailout of the present day.

John Edwards was right. There are Two Americas, and it is my fear that they fundamentally incompatible and irreconcilable.

We are headed for a conflict, decades in the making, approaching the intensity, scope and chaos of The Civil War.

I don't know what shape it will take or exactly when it will happen. I only know for certain it is coming and it will be messy. I only know for certain that I have little or nothing in common with "fellow Americans" such as Obama, Pelosi and a good chunk of the liberal "opposition", which I increasingly consider nothing more than a euphemism for people I consider aliens, at best.

The space for civilized debate is fast disappearing, when dealing with an "opposition" repeatedly ready to lie, cheat, distort, steal and compromise our national security, sovereignty and founding principles and repeatedly ready to abandon basic manners, civility, reality and logic, all of which are the fundamental basis for civilized debate. What do you call an "opposition" like that. Is it a threat that can be "deabted" with no longer?

I pray the coming conflict and confrontation is not violent, but it will be no less profound and no less significant than the first Civil War.

The very basic issue to be decided is just what is the United States of America, whether the Constitution no more than a piece of paper signifying nothing but pretense and old memories and whether there are still those prepared to fight for it.

Maybe principled leadership will arise that can prevent it. But I think things are rapidly developing beyond the capacity of any one figure -- however Reagenesque or Churchillian -- to stop what I fear is coming.

You appear to have a lot more faith in people willing to fight and die for what is Right.

Even FR is infected with those who aren't and won't.

We need around 10% of the total population to realize the same thing at the same time.

We can't even get that many to agree about what needs to be done right here...

I don't think I would like to be the *other than American* in that scenario.

I am assuming you would fight for where you live or where you are from, but it would be hard to do.The military would disband because there would be no central government and well we would fight guerrilla style withe the guns we have most people don;t have military weaponry though some do. I guess those who do would be the generals. ;)I mean you wouldn't fight in your military unit with people who are not on your side or say you are stationed in Cali but from Nebraska, you'd prolly go home to fight. During the first civil war it was democrats in the south and republicans in teh north, agriculture and slavery in the south, textiles and industry in the north. Everyone is mixed in together now so how would you win the turf, kind of hard to split a nation and actually have a civil war without land to live in if you win. At least I would think. The underlying of most war is the land under your feet when you win. After you get the space to live you make your ideals the lay of the land but it cannot work here now with the mix.

You will also need traps for food because not all food can be shot right off. Don't forget extra guns you do realize if their was a real societal collapse and you live anywhere with population over 1200 you are gonna be surrounded by groups who come together and have multiple people with guns. You with one gun won't work you need more guns ammo definitely and plenty of packaged plant seeds to grow food. Good luck with those plans! :)

I just see that there could be a catalyst that will cause people to be willing to fight for what is Right.

I also see too much of a split between poor illegals and wealthier Americans, especially out her in California. I don’t think that is good for this country, and as long as we let more illegal immigrants into this country I don’t think this situation is going to get better.

If that is the case my 4 and 5 year old sons could win single handedly.

Why can’t we as citizens hold a No Confidence vote to remove these a$$clowns that would ruin our country for their own personal gain?

It has already started. Battles were at Ruby Ridge & Branch Davidian Ranch in Waco TX. Remember Gordon Kahl? How about Oklahoma City Bombing? I’m sure you can come up with more if you think about it.

Well Bob, ya’ll had every opportunity to take back California from Mexico and now it's too late. Maybe the rest of us don't want to see the ENTIRE country go to shit.

Ever hear of Cal Prop 187?

We tried, and thanks to the Federal government and local state government co-conspirators they burned our ballots, and declared our free election where we won big, illegal

Those in Cal and the southwest tried to warn others what was coming their way, few listened.

You might want to look what's going on in your own backyard there in Texas.

500,000 illegal aliens and their supporters march on Dallas Texas, making demands and threats. 2007.

Add Bush to your list.

If anybody didn’t believe he was a leftist, open your eyes for once and look now folks.

I don’t think you’d like to be ANYBODY in that scenario.
It would suck to be an Aztlanista separatist - the UN will abuse you, Americans will kill you and, your own provisional government is full of vicious backstabbing psychopaths (think Cuba or the USSR after their revolutions)...
It would suck to be the UN - Americans will kill you if they can, and you’re working with sneaky, smelly, corrupt, Aztlanistas. The Americans are crippling your supply lines, and trying to destroy or boobytrap any supplies you might forage.
It would suck to be an American or NG - the Federales ain’t supportin’ you, ammo is running out, food is running out and essential services are disrupted and there is no central command to help you kill the bastards. And where is your family and how are you going to keep them fed?
It would suck to be the Federales - you’re being prevented from doing the right thing by elements within your own government and there is no (legal) way to get rid of them; also you have to worry about budget and political issues.

IT would pretty much suck, period. Of course, that is what “adventure” is - somebody else, comfortably far away in space and/or time, having a hard time of it... Just ask Bilbo Baggins!

I live in a city but an not a liberal and prefer living in the country but do to jobs cannot. I don't want to be lumped with the city folk and middle of nowhere folk, besides Iowa is pretty middle of nowhere and they want Obama in by an overwhelming majority.

In that case the USA is dissolved and everybody is fighting for their own little gangs and patches. A sadder state of affairs I cannot imagine.

You mean the south that was democrats but after the blacks were freed and given voting rights later changed all their views so that could dictate which way the darkies would vote so the could stay alive politically. Wonderful.

I think, in the back room meetings of these elitist and their NGOs, there’s an overwelming desire for us to simply, “kill ourselfs off”.

It’s not urban versus rural. I know a great deal of liberals in rural areas and a great many conservatives in urban areas. Let's not lump people who live in cities into liberals. Besides let's remember the south lost because of lack of industry and textiles, umm correct me if I ma wrong but cities are where the money, industrial areas, and textiles still are not to mention the coal plants for power and refineries for oil.
