The Coming Second Civil War
quesney | quesney

Posted on 09/26/2008 1:08:20 PM PDT by quesney

Folks, A profound schism in American society has been exposed and laid bare over the following years — since 9/11, through the events of Iraq to the monstrously socialist bailout of the present day.

John Edwards was right. There are Two Americas, and it is my fear that they fundamentally incompatible and irreconcilable.

We are headed for a conflict, decades in the making, approaching the intensity, scope and chaos of The Civil War.

I don't know what shape it will take or exactly when it will happen. I only know for certain it is coming and it will be messy. I only know for certain that I have little or nothing in common with "fellow Americans" such as Obama, Pelosi and a good chunk of the liberal "opposition", which I increasingly consider nothing more than a euphemism for people I consider aliens, at best.

The space for civilized debate is fast disappearing, when dealing with an "opposition" repeatedly ready to lie, cheat, distort, steal and compromise our national security, sovereignty and founding principles and repeatedly ready to abandon basic manners, civility, reality and logic, all of which are the fundamental basis for civilized debate. What do you call an "opposition" like that. Is it a threat that can be "deabted" with no longer?

I pray the coming conflict and confrontation is not violent, but it will be no less profound and no less significant than the first Civil War.

The very basic issue to be decided is just what is the United States of America, whether the Constitution no more than a piece of paper signifying nothing but pretense and old memories and whether there are still those prepared to fight for it.

Maybe principled leadership will arise that can prevent it. But I think things are rapidly developing beyond the capacity of any one figure -- however Reagenesque or Churchillian -- to stop what I fear is coming.

We’d most likely be fighting NATO/UN troops with their baby blue berets.

That wouldn't be much of a fight, considering the showing they made in the Balkans..........handcuffed to lightposts and such....

The problem is that you basically have the “city-folk” on both coasts and in the big cities. That’s the first group, and the other group is the one from the middle of the country: small-town America. They are at odds with each other.

I think I would have to move because I live in California.

You should probably buy that gun now.

I'm a little worried myself. I own some firearms, but I don't have a really good 'crap hits the fan gun'. I've got a Remington 710 bolt action I use for hunting and target practice, but it's not really well suited as an emergency rifle.

I’ve been saying that for quite some time. I do not want to see this country torn asunder by yet another bloody conflict. However, I am realistic enough to know that we cannot continue to bleed to death. Even a cornered rat will attack.

Save your Confederate money, the South shall rise again.

Kinda behind the curve if you’re just thinking about it now. Get an AR15, 10 mags, and 1000 rounds ASAP.

Waiting for Nov.5 is too late; if the festivities start, you’ll be standing in a line that’s much longer than the inventory of the store warrants.

Well Bob, ya’ll had every opportunity to take back California from Mexico and now it's too late. Maybe the rest of us don't want to see the ENTIRE country go to shit.

Absolutely. Two very bad (and recent) developments for the liberals in this country--1) Global Warming coming up front and center for everyone to see what a socialist sham the environmental movement is, and 2) Barack Obama and a greater focus on race in this country and the entitlements expected from us while they scream their "black liberation theology" nonsense behind our backs.

This banking fiasco is a major nail in their coffin. I'm 100% behind the Republicans who are FINALLY taking a stand against these idiots. How long will their backbone last?

Have you been to LA lately? I’m sorry, but when you have so many illegal aliens already in the country. Then, you have gang violence that is horrible.

People are starting to get fed up.

I don’t want it to happen, but I could easily see it happening.

Some people..and it’s always been that way. The only difference is how much legitimacy is handed them.

Well, at least it brings the tinfoilers on FR out of the dark...

If something were to happen, I am not sure that future historians would call it a “civil war”.

More likely, if anything was to shape up, it would roughly be described as urban versus rural.

Shortages of significant impact would draw people out from the densely packed urban areas so that they could ransack small town America.

From a bit of the stuff I’ve seen, though, if there were major civil disturbances, one of the first things that would happen is important assets like oil refineries would be secured, and all travel into/away from large metropolitan areas would be stopped.

I agree. These apocalyptic predictions remind me of the old days when people were building and stocking fallout shelters almost in anticipation of the `fun and excitement’ of general nuclear war.

There’s instead going to be an Uncivil War when Obama is not elected. It’s going to be the loser’s supporters getting in people’s face, lots of automotive rudeness with tailgating and upraised fingers, and other unpleasantness.

Perhaps the UCW won’t escalate much beyond that because, after all, we DO own most of the guns.

;^)

If you live in Montana, Wyoming, the Dakotas, Kansas, Nebraska, Arkansas or West Virginia you've got a good case against the rest of the country.

But from what I can see this mortgage/banking crisis is spread over the rest of the country.

It hits California, Texas, Florida, the Northeast and a lot of places in between, and if the stock market goes, so does everything else.

So it looks like we're in it together.

Bailouts, Gun bans, tax increases, more government, more pork barrel spending, more infringements, more extra Constitutional crap...

There will be no "oh sh*t" event. There will be no "final straw" in which the masses rise up.

Germany pretty much proved that's a pipe dream. Soviet Union and China too...

What it's gonna take is a solid band of radical Constitutionalists standing up and saying "no more, no matter the personal cost." Just like the Founders did.

You wanna be first to storm the hill? Wanna be first the FBI comes after? Wanna be first to get the ball rolling fighting these petty tyrant wannabe's and end up dead or worse?

The Joe Sixpack crowd bitches and moans, but he isn't gonna stand up and be the first asterisk (arse to risk). Those who do will be soundly denigrated and turned on by their Enemies within and without their Party. They'll be called "kook's", "radicals", "terrorists", and they'll be marginalized like Carl Dregga, or demonized being compared to Ted Kaczynski and Timoth McVeigh.

You ready for that?

I am somewhat confused by your attitude considering your byline.

“The liberties of our country, the freedom of our civil Constitution, are worth defending at all hazards; and it is our duty to defend them against all attacks. We have received them as a fair inheritance from our worthy ancestors: they purchased them for us with toil and danger and expense of treasure and blood, and transmitted them to us with care and diligence. It will bring an everlasting mark of infamy on the present generation, enlightened as it is, if we should suffer them to be wrested from us by violence without a struggle, or to be cheated out of them by the artifices of false and designing men.” Samuel Adams “Father of the American Revolution”

“defend them against all attacks” internal or external alike.
