NEW YORK An officer appears to have violated police department guidelines when he used a Taser stun gun on a naked, distraught man teetering on a building ledge, officials said Thursday.

Maybe i am. But *maybe* i also know that this probably very likely saved some innocent young girl from abuse, some night clerk from assault and a crease in their skull, or some room full of school kids 2 or 3 years from now from being shot. I believe that in my heart. You can’t know what you ultimately prevent.
I’d love there to be institutions that can treat them nice,, with little duck ponds, big green yards, and kind staff people. I’d love to see crazies actually living their where they can’t leave. But our society won’t do that anymore. So we send em to the streets.
And sometimes,, they get weeded out. If it wasnt this, he’d jump off the brooklyn bridge next year. And prob cause a big traffic jam that day too. No,, a crazy isnt always worth ANY inconvenience. The scale sometimes tips, Just try hard,, and try to learn what we can from this and move on. No need to destroy this cop.
The gun store dandies love to whine about how all cops are always wrong. The dandies aren’t always 100 percent wrong, but they aren’t always right either.
And all the constiutional whining,,,repeat this in 1792 Philadelphia, wanna wager how it woulda been dealt with? Just my opinion.
It's amazing that you seem to have the power to predict the future. Got any stock tips?

What makes you think the men and women of this nation's founding generation would have handled this situation poorly? Police in this country used to consider themselves peace officers. Most likely, the neighborhood constable in 1792 would have known this guy and would have been familiar with his problems. He may well have had a better chance of defusing the situation.
Nope,, just nuts who are a menace.
And you really think there are readily available inflatables? Really? wow,,,
And because i think a nut gets tasered when he is going crazy,,, i must think i select elderly people for the death camps? Go back to studying the black helicopters.
He was a menace,,, and i bet mom will be happy to trade him for a cool million. You all think it, i just said it.
Some people just aren’t meant for New York.
He woulda been tarred and feathered,, and you know it.
You guys are very sensitive. Go read some Jane Austin and have some tea.
I hope you’re not a cop, because if you are, I’d warrant there’s a BUNCH of thuggish things you’ve done to people in the past, that if revealed would get you thrown in jail for abuse of power.
“mom will be happy to trade him for a cool million”
Wow, you are one tweaked individual.
Ed
The bad decision was to electrify someone who is 1) unarmed; 2) not a danger and 3) clearly not in command of his faculties. This is reckless endangerment of another person under the color of law.
There is no way to defend this as ‘a bad decision’ A bad decision is when a police officer feels threatened and shoots an unarmed person, but had reason to suspect potential danger to himself. This cop was in no way in danger.
Oh, he’s a JBT, alright. It’s obvious.
Some mothers love their children regardless of their faults. Incomprehensible I know...
Probably deserved it. After all, he was naked and suicidal. Cop probably should have shot him for good measure.
